Anyone struggle with "Intra-Entity Transactions" (Consolidations)?

I understand the principles and ideas, but the logic and journal entries are kinda ridiculous. I did ok on my homework (like TBS) but the MCQ are not closely related. Btw, I have an Advanced Accounting exam tomorrow (School!), NOT the FAR Exam!

It’s not terribly hard, but the MCQ just don’t relate with my homework (TBS). Just wondering if anyone else has this issue? Thanks!

I want to be clear that the MCQ are not that hard, but it just feels like I was never fully exposed to them from the reading, lectures, and homework. I had to google some of the questions to figure out the calculations. I've used google before, but the MCQ weren't “clicking.”

Yes, intra-entity stuff is an annoying beast, and a decent part of the reason that Advanced was my least-favorite accounting course.

However, I am now the Controller for a non-profit that has a consolidated entity on its financial statements, and it's not as bad in actual practice as it is in academic study. I think I could go back and take Advanced now and actually have a half a clue what I'm doing, but at the time it was one of those that the exams seemed like all I could do was cross my fingers and hope to pass. I think I ended up with a B in that class, but there were days I thought a D would be a lucky grade… 😐

So…I do find intra-entity terribly annoying in homework, as well as in preparing for the FAR exam. Seeing it in the real-world has made it make much more sense, though, and while it's still annoying, it's not nearly as bad as it was before. 🙂
