Anyone need just a little experience for their CPA?? (NY)

I recently took the CPA exam and passed. I have the required education. I have 4.5 years in accounting…but over the past few months I have learned that almost all of my supervisors were not registered (although all licensed CPAs). Out of my 4.5 years of accounting experience…I am only able to gain 9 months of experience satisfactory to the NYS board! (because under a licensed AND REGISTERED CPA) and all else was rejected.

Unfortunately I no longer work in the accounting industry and due to the schedule at my current job, I can’t really take on a second full time job, or even a second part-time job. I wouldn’t be able to put in the hours M-F during the day.

Does anybody have any suggestions about where to find very flexible accounting jobs that would qualify?? Or perhaps any ideas at all??? I only need 3 months people!!! HELP!

The only thing I could think of is becoming a part-time tax season temp at a local accounting firm. The thing is, you don’t get 3 months of experience for working 5 hours a week for 3 months, you need to get 520 hrs (2080 hrs / 12 months *3 months) which likely won’t be accomplished in one year of working as a part-time temp during tax season. Part time bookkeeping would also be an option but it’s going to be difficult to find a place that’s hiring a PT bookkeeper that has a CPA as a direct supervisor.
