Anyone in the SF Bay Area planning on dropping a late April or May test date?

    Hello fellow CPA candidates!

I’m trying to schedule my last CPA exam and have found it to be very difficult to find an open testing date. I’ve looked at all the locations in the Bay Area and have found that, for the most part, all testing dates up until July are full. The only dates I have found are in first week of April (not enough time to study for an entire section) and 2nd-to-last week of April (I am taking a Master’s in Tax and my finals are exactly on the available dates -____-)

Is anyone planning on dropping a last-week of April or May (anytime in May) test date? I really do not want to put off my last test until July since I’ve been on a roll with all my other tests and just want to get them all done before summer comes around. I am willing to travel anywhere in the Bay Area at any time if it means I’ll be able to take my test in April or May. Thanks so much!

Does anyone have any theories why it’s so hard to find a testing date during Q2? I remember when I first scheduled my tests last August I didn’t have too much trouble finding a date in October.

it may have nothing to do with your situation but this past winter bad weather closed centers up the east coast. for a short while they posted the exams that were being cancelled. exclusively MCAT in most of the listed locations. that surprised me and helped me understand why i have had trouble here with schedules.

    good luck!

Santa Rosa is wide open, maybe you can schedule there and then keep looking in your area for openings. That's what me and some others will be doing.

Have no idea why the Bay Area is booked solid, we have more testing centers than most other states… So weird.

If East Coast people are looking for good weather, they won't be finding it in California lol.

Just these last few months, it felt like it rained more than the last 4 years combined. Our infrastructure hasn't seen rain in so long that all of our roads are either flooding or breaking apart.

MaLoTu: Thanks for the tip. I did not even check Santa Rosa because I don't even consider that Bay Area anymore lol.

I just checked Google Maps and it is 60 miles away from my house… I guess having the peace-of-mind of passing the CPA exam is worth it. Are you going to be going with some others on the same day? Maybe we can carpool and split gas and toll money.

I wouldn't mind car pooling… That would actually be pretty hilarious! On the way there we are all freaked out and on the way back all stressed about how we did, lol.

One other thought I had was staying the night out there the night before… Not ideal, but if I have to do it 🙁

I don't think its necessary to get a hotel out there the night before. It takes 2 hours at most to get to Santa Rosa. If you scheule the test at 1:30 and leave SF by 9, thats more than enough time to drive there, get a cup of coffee and a small breakfast, then head to the test site.

So the drought is over?? That's GREAT news. I'm in Kansas and last summer, I felt really sorry for you guys when I'd hear about it on the national news. Nowadays, they haven't mentioned your rain on the national news! All we hear about is politics. It would have been nice if the news outlets updated us on our fellow state. We care about you guys!

Tripin- we will never be out of a drought. Last time we had a drought and then subsequent rainy weather they started letting water out of the dams (insert eye roll emoji). It is politically expedient for their to be a water crisis. I have a cousin who works for our local water district and he said that we were not in severe drought range to begin with. I am all for conservation though, we should take care of all our natural resources.

Oh wow. It's uncool when the government is dishonest with people. For example, the Flint, Michigan water crisis! Can't believe there was(is) lead in their water, and the government knew about it for a full year before mentioning it.

Thank goodness it isn't as bad as Flint in most places, but they are reporting that the Central Valley where are the crops are grown are having flint like water crisis. I am definitely not a conspiracy theorists, but I know that CA has cycles of drought. What we need is better water management, but there is no funding for it.

Oh my. I guess that's becoming common. I've heard that Jackson, MS is having a lead problem too. I haven't heard that on the national news, but my grandmother lives there. I heard it from her.

This is scary. Our country needs to invest in updating our infrastructure.
