I am sorry about your situation. Hope you are going to feel better soon.
Believe me, there are a lot of us with problems. Sometimes, life brings for us some obstacles to finish the exams on time (within 18 months). Speaking about the credit extension, I am pretty much sure, it all depends on each individual state Board, however each state should have similar adjustments to a general rule. I am taking the exams under the NYS rules. Based on my state, I was informed, verbally and in writing, that it is important to pass ALL 4 exams, before asking for any exam credit extension. (requirement #1). Another important requirement is a valid reason. Of course, military, health (yours or someone close in your family), death in your family, problems with taking the exam due to weather condition, prometric center issues etc. Not sure about Q2 and Q3…
You know this, but i am going to remind you, life is life. We get sun and rain. Be strong and try to help yourself. Remember, everyone else can listen to us, but the whole magic power is inside of us (not people around us). Not your family, not your husband, and not your kids. I am pretty much sure they miss you!! They miss their mom and your husband does miss his wife!
Just today, I was about to finish my CPA journey and during my exam (3rd testlet) the computer shut down. I made a post about it because I did get fed up. I was absolutely, extremely confident about my performance, but I was not able to finish!! Not going to go with details how I felt… No, I did not end up drinking as I thought I am going to 🙂 After diner, I decided to spend the rest of the day with my family. My 4 years old son was happy without limit. And although I had a really bad afternoon, I truly enjoyed the time with them. Please, do not neglect your family. I know how you feel, but there are people who need us as much as we need them. And do take breaks between the exams! Do not skip vacations etc. Go and see a movie, play in the park. Do SOME things for your family! You are not someone after college who can skip a tip to a bar or his or her favorite computer game.
For the last 7 years, I have been “famous” in my family because of a lot of health problems. Around a year ago, my doctor told me that health is more important than anything. I tried to postpone my surgery because I wanted to finish my last 2 exams. He told me that I need to prioritize things in my life and exams will happen whenever they happen. I shared this with you only because I do not know your reasons your credit expired, but I want you to help yourself. I feel your stress and stress is the beginning of other problems, which is health or marriage!!
Let me share with you something funny…. I study by making notes, using different colors, so my book looks interesting for a little child. A couple of days ago before my BEC exam, my little boy come to me and noticed different colors for demand and supply in my book. He asked me, “mom, can I trace in your book too? We need to share, we are a family” I was truly exhausted from studying, but it made me smile 🙂 Last night, before I put him to sleep we prayed for my exam, a little boy said, “I am going to pray for you mommy that you do not need to study any more tonight, just any other day, so you can sleep with me tonight” 🙂
Believe me, I badly want to be done with the CPA exams, but I know I have to be strong!! And I know, I will never give up.
I suggest, take a break. Spend an evening alone (or however long it will take) Treat yourself with something you enjoy (maybe your favorite wine, music, and a candle) and make a different plan for your success. Do not forget to include the fact that you are a wife and a working mother. You can and you will finish the exams, but help yourself to find a solid starting point. It does not matter if your have 2 or 4 in front of you (hope 2). Just do not forget to find reasons why this did not happen and how would happen. You are the only one who knows answer for these questions. Even people who scored 99 on these exams are not going to know the answers.
I am sure you sleep now in Maine, but I hope you feel better soon. I am not in New York anymore… Good luck! Focus on the exams you still need to pass!
