Any Experience with Recruiters/Lucas Group?

So I’ve sent resumes to 22 cpa firms at the beginning of April in the Baltimore/DC area and had 2 firms call back. I had a phone interview last week and would like to work there but they said they would get back to me in 1-2 weeks and I cant just sit still on this if they don’t get back to me.

Has anyone had any experience with recruiters? Not Accountemps but a recruiter that would do direct placement and work for a contingent fee. There is an office for Lucas Group in the city but it seems like it is for accounting executives not someone who has passed the exams, has 150 credits and specifically needs to work with a cpa for experience. Any tips or experience with recruiters like this?

    FAR - 74, 76!!!!(5/15/15)
    AUD - 68,71, 73, 92!!!!(1/11/16)
    REG - 68, 71, 78!!(2/22/16)
    BEC - 75!!(10/2/15)

Recruiters suck unless you have 5+ years of experience. They spend all day looking for resumes on indeed and monster. Often create fake job postings to get resumes. Then get as many people to agree to be represented by them. Then send your resume out with 50 others and fail to get you anything meaningful.

On top of all that they are in some sort of unanimous agreement not to return calls unless it is beneficial to them. Fuck them.

Staffing agencies are bad news. Do not waste your time and energy working with them. Just send out your cold resume to different CPA firms and you will be able to get your foot in the door.

Funny that there's a post about this subject. I was in the same scenario where a (Sunni, I know you'll like this) a Robert Half recruiting manager tried to connect with me through LinkedIn; albeit, the situation appeared he put in most of the effort trying to get in contact with me during my busy weeks of studying for my AUD in May. A las, after I took my exam, I decided to be more shrewd about this “career opportunity.”
, where there was a poster brought up a topic where Becker was telling us BS in regards of accounting salary, and along those lines, I came to realized that networking on LinkedIn happens to have two halves of good and bad (No duh, lol), the people you actually know and ones who blatantly solicit for your business (i.e. retirement services, “come work for us at our staffing agency” – plain ew., and accountemps “where we will find a job for you” type of blasphemy).

I agreed CPA CMA's post, where a traditional application process would suffice if you don't have any options to connect with them on a personal level through an event.

Filled with uncertainty, the treacherous journey has begun.

Well-said Sunni. Never heard any good things said about temp agencies. Never be drawn to the fake jobs they post online.
