    Hello,

Thankfully I just passed all my four sections and I would like to briefly share my experience of preparation for CPA and also hope to help with you regarding your study and stress-relief.

Material: Becker Only (and MCQ only, did not do any simulation practices or mock tests); Starting date and ending date: August 2015 – Feb 2016, all first attempt.

1st. BEC: my first section, and I seemed over-studied for this easiest one. 2/3 calculation questions and 1/3 IT. Essays were pretty easy to me as they are just like the business emails I write everyday and life was relatively easy that late summer time. I did all homework and reviewed all again, but didn’t do any simulations for this section. The result was as I expected — 92. If you studied (don’t lie to yourself), you will pass, not even study hard I mean.

2nd FAR: Now my life turned into a miserable one, besides the issues from work, school assignments and relationship, I got a violent robbery and was hurt…….My study plan was disrupted several times and I rescheduled FAR for THREE times….even though I tried my best to review all the materials in details and tried to finish all the homework under the pressures and anxieties, I just couldn’t, and I left Chapter 10 empty and several chapters incomplete…with the despair and sadness, do you believe? I got 94~ my second and third testlet got much harder (according to my feelings at that moment) and the simulations were not easy~~~after some discussion with my friends, we reached that : if you do you HW once, reviewed your wrong ones, and your brain is just functioning at Prometric, you will definitely pass.

3rd AUD: I had this in Jan. I took some time off to recharge and recover from the trauma I got in 2015 and kinda feeling lousy and lazy to study, meanwhile, I was over-confident about AUD as I thought AUD is all about sense, so after carefully reviewed the first 3 chapters, I became an extremely bad student, no patience for homework and even got a record of 55% avg performance for the chapter 4-5, and did not do any practice for chapter 6. The exam was easy throughout the MCQs, no change in difficulties, and SIM was also not challenging, therefore, I felt I bombed this section. The result was not decent, 76 (hoooo, bad karma), but kinda resonated with the effort I took for this section~~~I somehow feel it is not that hard to pass AUD but your feeling about your AUD exam and the actual result has very little correlation…not like other sections.

4th REG. I hate TAX and Law, yes, I mean I HATE, I was born disliking regulations, and I don’t know why. Even FAR and AUD, I remained some passion for the materials. But considering my karma experience on AUD, I changed my attitude and study well for 25 days though I could not get motivated for this section cos I hate it. I did all HW once and reviewed wrong ones twice; however, on the exam, all testlets are like primary school- very short and straightforward. Gosh, I was feeling down as that was similar with my AUD difficulties~and SIM was CRAZY, yes, crazy, crazy….I almost guessed for each blank (educated guess though 🙂 )~ see, I got 88~~~~

So my friends, I don’t wana be condescending, but just let you know that they are just tests; they are not really testing your IQ but your perseverance and attitude. In your preparation, you might encounter some shitty things from your life, but try all methods to relax and think positively, or even just put the materials away and attend some social events, then the relaxing and positive outcomes will follow up, trust me. During the exam, TRY not think about the change of difficulties or be scared about how hard the SIM is, focusing on the questions and details is the best strategy.

Hope my post help you a bit, and I wish all of you good luck!!!!!!

Congratulations!!! You sound like you are a very smart individual and things may come easier, especially studying! I have a friend who is like that, hardly studies but 4.0 every single class and not just a 4.0 but 100% on all his accounting exams. As I was reading I was thinking, “this person definitely got the Watt sells award with those passing grades.” 🙂 I wish I could skip the SIMS and still pass like you :/ Anyways, thanks for sharing your experience and the advice.

Thank you for sharing your story. How were your study methods for REG? Because I have exactly 26 days to study for that beast since I pushed taking FAR. I have Roger Review & Cram and WTB. So I was wondering if there was a more efficient way to finish the material. How much of your studying was given to BLaw?
