I haven’t seen any MCQs dealing with alimony recapture. I have been through every single question too. Is this something that I need to know for the exam?

    AUD - 78
    BEC - 83
    REG - 5/16
    FAR - 7/16

I'm pretty sure this only applies to people who are Divorced.

Don't pay your alimony, the Ex-Wife will be looking for Alimony Recapture when she starts looking for you with her Lawyer.

there are a few ninja mcqs on alimony recap in the individual tax section. the ninja book provides the formula. i think a question could come up on exam on this topic

    FAR 7/25/15 76!
    AUD 10/30/15 93
    BEC 2/27/16 82
    REG 5/23/16 88!
Ninja Book and MCQ and the forum - all the way!!!
and a little thing i like to call, time and effort!

You definitely could see a question on this topic but nothing material. I got an 87 on REG and have no idea how to calculate it.

FAR: 80 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
REG: 87 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
BEC: 87 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
    AUD: 8/27/16

I haven't taken the test, but my plan is to punt on that. The way I see it, there is ~5% chance I get that question. I would rather spend my time mastering C-Corps/S-Corps and less time on the Alimony…

Thanks. I saw the formula in the notes and book but wasn't sure if it was a heavily tested topic. Seems, from everyone else, that it might be just one question or so.

I don't think Becker even covered the recapture of alimony, if so I must have missed it. Just know that Alimony is included as taxable income to the spouse receiving it and how it is different than child support.

First go at the CPA! Only using Becker
    Reg / Nov 2015 - 87
    Far / Apr 2016 - 79
    Bec / May 2016 - 80
    Aud / Aug 2016
