Those who have taken Professional Ethics: The AICPA’s Comprehensive Course Online (For Licensure) — The exam that appears right after you complete the course is the one you need to pass, right? The book provides a separate link where you can take the exam after inputting a serial number. I am confused!

The exam in the book is the same exam you will take “officially” when you click the link.

Basically they give you a copy of the exam to work on and work through. Once you finish it, log in and then copy your answers over to the real exam and click submit.

The exam that I am supposed to take is the one that's right after all the lectures, right? I have read things about going to a certain website and inputting a serial number to access the exam.

Serial number is only if you have the book (hardcopy version) I believe.

I have exactly the same confusion. I cannot find the serial number in the online version and I'm not sure if the exam I passed after the course is the actual ethics exam. Can someone please help?

Haven't taken the ethics exam yet and am glad i stumbled on this post. Is the online format even worth it with the level of confusion about where to submit the exam? Sounds like the hard copy might just be easier and a sure thing…

@Cluster I took the online version in December and found it extremely easy to use. You get a pdf of the book and there is an exam in the back. I printed that out and worked through the book to find rhe answers. Turned out that was the same exam I had to take to pass. Whole thing took me about an hour and a half.

ok thanks @Jennifer. I was confused about whether the content was delivered in PDF with a practice exam as part of the PDF or if there was a URL link to a practice exam. It looks like people were struggling to determine which one was the “actual” exam. I'll go with the online version then. Thanks!

There is no “practice exam.” There is a link for the exam within the course and you’ll get your results and certificate immediately once you pass. You have 3 tries and up to a year to pass. There’s a pdf version of the book. Really, it’s very simple. I wouldn’t stress.

When you are in the course, on the bottom right corner there should be a folder named “Resources.” Click on that, and it will bring up all sorts of stuff. The Participant Manual is the pdf version of the book.

Isn't it kind of ironic NY doesn't require the ethics exam? I mean it isn't like it really does anything for you, but after all the corruption that occurs in NYC you'd think the center of the financial world would require some sort of ethics course

Thanks Jennifer. I found the “resource”. I am glad I read your another post and purchased the PDF version. Printing out the exam and searching in PDF are very easy work.

@ckcpa18 I agree. I was surprised it was that easy, but I wasn't complaining. I was happy to knock it out without too much fuss.
