Hello everyone I am new here and am considering getting the 10-pt combo for my entire cpa review course…I was thinking about gettin cpaexcel because the format and study layout will probably force me to do it…Does ninja set up a study plan for you that tells you what to study what day? Also are the books only in pdf format or does he ship them to your course? Those are my two main concerns! What would you guys suggest cpexcel and supplement ninja or just solely ninja? Thanks

    1. Ninja doesn't schedule when and what you'll study. It's a great standalone study product for self starters, but if you need your hand held in terms of scheduling and pacing, it's a great supplement to whatever course you end up with.

    2. The books are in pdf form only. It's part of the reason that the 10 point combo is so well-priced.

I used Ninja products exclusively, but I planned out my studying on my own and was very disciplined when it came to sticking to that schedule.

I have the CPAExcel….and I love it. I like the fact that it gives me a study schedule that I can follow. It worked well for BEC…and I passed first time. I'm taking REG next….what I'm doing different is buying the Ninja Notes and Ninja MCQ's for additional material. For the extra $100 per section….it'll be worth it by passing it the first time.

The formula for me has been Becker and supplementing with NINJA MCQs for review. I would also add I probably would have passed the first time, but I had a funeral of immediate family the week before 3 exams I failed in 2015. It was definitely not my best year!

Becker is expensive, but it is thorough.I would recommend if cost is not a deciding factor.

@red Here's the quick version of my schedule, based on 8 weeks of prep time for each section:

Weeks 1-4ish: Copy the Ninja Notes by hand to a notebook, then copy the notes from the first notebook to a second notebook. Do MCQs as time allows, taking detailed notes on the ones I get wrong.

Weeks 4-8: Tons of MCQs, with Sims in between sets of MCQs to break up the monotony. Again, take as many notes as needed on incorrect answers so that you understand how to get to the correct answer. For math-based questions it's even better if you write down the formula for the answer so you can use it on similar questions.

Somewhere about 2 weeks from the exam date, I took a practice test to get a feel for the speed I would need to work at on the real deal.
