Advice Needed-Study Schedule

    Hi Everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on scheduling the exams. I took some time off and would like to jump back in and test 2 by the end of the year if possible. I have Becker for Aud, Reg, and Far. I’ll have Ninja MC, audio, and notes for all sections. I also have an outdated Becker BEC textbook.

I have an undergrad in finance and I’d like to think I’m pretty decent at math but have been out of school for a while. I have no experience with audit so I feel like that will be the most difficult of the “shorter” sections. I’ll have 11 weeks of study time with 3-4 hours each weekday and 4-5 on the weekends. Which two sections do you recommend I try to pass? How should I allocate my time? 5 weeks section #1 and 6 weeks section #2?

I don’t want to short change myself and rush through to fit in two sections and fail both. I also don’t want to stretch out the studying too much because then I’ll forget the material and lose focus.

Which two sections do you recommend and how many weeks should I allocate for each one? Or should I just do one section?

I always suggest taking FAR first, as all the other exams tend to have a little bit of FAR in them, so it's a good building block!

In regards to your 11 weeks of studying… well I always suggest 8 weeks for FAR to get through all the material and have plenty of time to review. As that would only leave you 3 weeks for another exam, I am not too sure that you could successfully study for another exam and pass in that time. So I would focus on FAR, then start studying for REG (which I think takes second longest to study) and take that beginning of January, before busy season starts (assuming you're in public). REG took me a solid 6 weeks. AUD took me about 4.5 weeks. And BEC took me 5 weeks!

My way isn't a sure fired way, it is just a guideline that worked for me. So do what you think you are capable of! If you can get through the entire Becker book and the mcq, you should be just fine. Good luck!!

I have done one test in each testing window, give or take. I work full-time, have 2 young kids and a husband and so trying to cram it all into a short window wouldn't work. I'd say 8 weeks is enough for AUD. The material may be unfamiliar to you but it's easy to get through. I don't know about trying to fit 2 exams into 11 weeks. Right now, i am studying for FAR, and I set my schedule to study 1 Becker chapter a week which they budget to about 20 hours a week, that's 10 weeks just to get through materials. I am leaving myself 2.5 weeks for review before the exam… I study about 3-4 hours Mon-Fri, and try to get a couple of hours on the weekends-it's not always possible-my kids are very busy! 🙂 LOL

I went FAR AUD REG BEC

FAR is best to do first and BEC last, i suck at AUD so went 2nd there, hardest to easiest is way to take.

My recommendation (which is not what I did) would be REG, FAR, AUD, BEC. REG is the most separate and distinct from the other books and it's big so good to knock out first. FAR next because it's probably the hardest add getting the two big books done first would be huge. AUD next because you'd benefit a bit after taking FAR and I think it's a much more relaxed study due to VERY little calculations compared to REG and FAR. BEC last because you'd have a solid study routine by then, it's the smallest book which would be nice at the end, and you'd get some overlap from FAR and AUD.
