Advice – keep scoring in the 60s

I’ve sat for 3 test to date (AUD-47, 64; FAR-60, BEC-60, 63) and can’t seem to pass, wondering if I am missing a monumental study technique? I use Wiley CPAExcel and trend in the 70s for the test bank, which is above the threshold they suggest. I spend an adequate amount of time on studying, just not seeing the results which is discouraging.

Had to keep moving onto other sections due to my NTS expiring. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated!

Unfortunately, there is no magic study technique. If there is I haven't found it yet. Everyone learns differently and finding what works best for you is the recipe.

I just found out I failed BEC with a 69 (first attempt) and now I lost REG as a result. Back to just one part passed after over two years of studying.

You aren't the only one. What you are going through is normal. My only suggestion is do not take more than two months to study for a section. Four to six weeks is ideal.

    Keep your head up.

    REG - 79
    FAR - ?
    AUD - ?
    BEC - ?

I use Becker. For me, large quantities of mcqs 7 days a week (even during busy season) and taking the final exams to be sure I'm getting in the ballpark have worked so far. I also do a lot of progress tests crossing out my higher scoring chapters just focusing on my worst ones (adjusting the progress test chapters as I gain in certain areas).

To be honest when I was scoring in the 60s on the exams I came to realize that I truly did not have a good understanding of the material. When you go through the questions can you explain why each answer choice is either correct or incorrect? Just because you are scoring in the 70s doesnt mean much if you are like me and memorize answers and you just pick the right answer.

Think about how you have studied in the past and after each fail did you switch up your studying or did you stick to the same strategies. Also, how best do you learn? I used to think I was an auditory learner and would focus on the videos. I finally realized on my third audit retake that I learned best from reading the text. I read the Wiley book cover to cover, which was the worst thing ever but it actually worked.

Good Luck! You can do this.

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.
