what do you guys do for the research question. i have used the advanced search tab and then type in words “containing this exact phrase” with some phrases from the original question. this narrows it down a lot more. is this how most people go about finding the answer, or are there some other good strategies?

The “search within” functional can be useful as well. So if you know the answer is probably in a certain section, you can use that to narrow it down. Probably more useful in FAR than AUD or REG since FAR is decently organized while the other two just aren't. That being said, I couldn't find the research question on either FAR or AUD (although I had no trouble in practice) so maybe I'm not the best person to answer you.

    4 for 4

    FAR 85
    AUD 94
    BEC 86
    REG 90

What I have learned with Audit, not sure which section you are asking about, is reading the question and having some form of an idea of what they are asking. And then I use that to narrow down what I am going to search.

For example, the audit SIM below, after reading it I know that I am going to be looking for my answer under AU-C. So in the search function I type in “going concern” And also with audit it helps to know the different categories that they have the AL. I think there is AR, AU-C, AT and ET. When I typed going concern it highlighted a section under AR and in AU-C. But because I know that clarified standards are AU-C I didnt bother looking at the AR section.

What section and paragraph of the AICPA's Codification of Statements on Auditing Standards (clarified standards) discusses where the auditor must disclose substantial doubt about the entity's ability to continue as a going concern?

Research questions can be tricky. I used to not practice them and figured how hard can it be to search. Till I realized that I was missing those points because in each exam I could never find the answer.

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

I think it all depends on your knowledge of the AL. For FAR I would not type in anything and I would manually search through the folders myself since I was quite familiar with AL. The advice I would give is try and type the wording like it would be in the AL and you should find better matches

    REG - 91
    FAR - 86
    BEC - 84
    AUD - July 2016
