    Good morning all,

By now, many of you may remember me, and for those who are newer to the forums, my name is Journey to Fate. I’ve been on the CPA path for almost 9 years and after multiple failures, jobs, marriage and now a child, I think I’m finally ready to get over the hump. Hoping you can all can assist with me with some questions I have:

    1. Been using Becker and recently got a 67 at the end of last window. Got weaker in all sections, except writing, which i got Stronger. Didn’t make sense to me. Bought NINJA mcq. How should I supplement? Switch off between Becker and NINJA mcq? I’m determined to pass the exam this time around. I studied after I took the exam and carried into my learning of the failing grade. What are your thoughts?

    2. Aiming for a mid-April BEC exam, which would lead me to a early May score release. Should I keep studying BEC or move on to AUD? If I fail BEC, as you all know, I wouldn’t be able to take until July, so thinking moving to AUD would be the right call, but makes me nervous since i’ve never actually passed an exam yet and wanted to focus on passing one first.

Either way, my studying techniques have changed, my confidence is at an all-time high and I’m ready to finally start passing some of these exams. Looking for any and all advice!

Why not just concentrate on one and get it passed? I could see if you started studying for your next test while waiting score release but if you haven't started AUD yet, just cont with BEC.

    -----------------------------
    BEC - 77, 03/2015 (first try)
    FAR - 79, 05/2015 (second try)
    REG - 83, 12/2015 (first try)
    AUD - 84, 03/2015 (first try)

I got 99 problems but the CPA ain't one.

I use Gleim and supplement with Ninja MCQs/Notes. My study method is to read the Gleim text (taking notes while reading) and watch the lectures (read one unit, watch the lectures for that unit, read the next unit, watch the lectures for that unit, etc.). When I'm done with the complete text I pound Ninja MCQs (taking notes on the ones I missed, making sure I didn't just guess on the ones I got right) and rewrite the Ninja Notes (literally in the margins on the actual Ninja Notes I printed out). This may not work for you but its my method.

Regarding your next question, I'd crush BEC mid-April then jump right into AUD. You won't be able to take a break (maybe the remaining part of the week following your BEC exam but that's it) since you're short on time till the end of May. Crush AUD at the end of May and you're golden pony boy, 2 down, 2 to go! That's actually my Q2 except replace BEC with REG and AUD with BEC.

FAR: 80 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
REG: 87 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
BEC: 87 (Gleim, Ninja Notes, Ninja MCQs)
    AUD: 8/27/16

@nessie – I have the self study so I watched all lectures and am focusing on the mcq.

Any suggestions on if I should just concentrate on ninja mcq or kind of mix in both?

@euro/Andy – if I wait for BEC again after mid apr, I'd be waiting til May 5, wouldn't that two weeks be best used to go after AUD? Makes me nervous since I've never passed an exam and could complicate things.

Very impressed with the initiative to get it done and stick with it. I recommend sticking with BEC for that April/May window. I also used Becker and Ninja MCQ for BEC so I thought I would throw my two cents in…

The basic plan I used for each chapter of Becker was
    1. Watch the videos and take solid notes along with the presenter
    2. Read the chapter through once by itself
    3. Go page by page and make hand written note cards of information I thought was important or I struggled with
    4. Review the notecards whenever I could
5 go through the Becker practice questions and make notecards of a question/topic if I got it wrong

After doing all of this, I would use Ninja MCQ as a supplement in my review process. I find that it is better to stick with Becker until the review phase because the questions match exactly with the topics you are covering. By using Ninja at the end you get a fresh look at new questions that can expose where you may need to review.

Obviously you seem to be very busy, but the nice thing with making all of your own flash cards is that you can review them in short spurts. I really can't stress mouth how helpful writing out difficult concepts was for me, and obviously people learn in different ways but that is what stuck for me.

Any thoughts on how to mix the Becker the questions and ninja mcq? Not sure how to balance my study time for the upcoming retake mid April. Also, got my score report. Weaker on everything, stronger on writing and got a 69. I've never seen a breakout like that. Does it mean I was close to comparable on a few areas?

Do you have any goal in mind with the number of MCQ you plan to do daily / weekly / total? I would hammer those questions and start taking notes like crazy. start with 50 questions per day and ramp up to 100+ daily by the last two weeks of your prep.

How long did you study for Reg?

    Be merciful my Lord!

BEC - PASSED, Thank you LORD!
AUD - PASSED, LORD! you are able!
REG - 06/10/2016 - I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength!
    FAR - 08/21/2016

You only fail when you stop TRYING!!

@6 I would say probably around75-100. I'm just not sure if I should focus on Becker or go towards the ninja mcq. I'm also still confused on my score report but probably thinking it doesn't matter either way, and to just focus on getting those six more points!!!
