My undergrad degree was in Econ. I have been taking accounting classes at a community college to reach the required 30 accounting credits needed to take the CPA test (I have work experience done already).

Anyone know exactly what they mean by no more than 6 hours in accounting principles?
    1) at least 30 semester hours, or the equivalent in quarter hours, of undergraduate accountancy
courses that shall include no more than six semester hours of accounting principles and no more
than three semester hours of business law; or

Would any of these be considered accounting principles (assuming yes for princ to financial accounting and managerial and have only counted 3 credits each):
    (3) principles of financial accounting
    (3) principles of managerial accounting
    (4) intermediate accounting I
    (4) intermediate accounting II
    (3) accounting for govt/non profit
    (4) intro to cost accounting
    (3) business law
    (3) advanced accounting
    (3) international accounting
    Total – 30

I believe you are right. Accounting principles classes are generally considered the principles of financial and managerial classes that all business majors have to take. Based on this, you are within the 6 hour limit, and should be fine.

You might have a problem for example, if each principle class was a 4-hour credit class, in which you could only count 6 out of 8.

In NC – it would be your intro to financial accounting course as well as the intro managerial accounting course (not the cost accounting). At least, that's what the NC Board of Accountancy classified them as when I went to UNCG.

Thanks! Those 2 principles classes were actually 4 units but I am only counting 3 units each towards requirement.

Also, is it normal for intermediate I/II to be 4 units? It looks like most other classes are only 3?

Intermediate I and II are 3 units each at UNCG. I'm not sure about other schools in NC.

@green, I think that just varies on university. I took 58 hours of accounting, and none of them were 4 credits (19 3 hours classes, and a 1 hour seminar). Intermediate 1 and 2 were each 3 hours for me, but I wouldn't think it would matter too much.

Intermediate I/II are 4 credits each at Wake Tech.
