I am curious about the new cpa exam. I have read about the new changes, but still not certain.
Part of me thinks the exam might only change a little. The other part of me is doubting the entire process of taking these exams.

I made a 73 and 74 in Audit by using Becker self-study. I haven’t passed any exams yet. I am here thinking how I am going to pass with the new exam version. It’s supposed to be a lot harder than the previous version.

    What do you guys think?

    Thank you!

I am not concerned about the changes. The exam has changed since its inception and review course and candidates adapt. I view it that same way. I plan on taking Audit and BEC before the changes. And then the the other will be after the changes. I will have to adapt my studying to the new way the exam is being tested. No need to get myself in a tizzy. Taking the exam is stressful enough without having to worry about the unknown.

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

Yeah, you're right. No need to stress about the unknown. I still see MCQ in my Becker program that were Tested in 1990's.

    Thanks.

I would not freak out about the new format. If you didn't study for a specific part of the exam using the old format I do not think it would make any difference prepping for the new format. The only annoying thing about this change is that we will have to wait for the score release until August.

    AUD 7/6/16 Passed
    BEC 9/3/16
    FAR TBD
    REG TBD

Don't freak out about it. The exam will definitely be more difficult though, the sims are no joke and the 50/50 weight will make it harder, not to mention the addition of sims to BEC.

I wish I had taken the exam when I got out of college and it was 70/30, but I managed to get it down in the 60/40 format.

It will still be passable. The worst thing about the new format will be the ten week score release for Q2 for candidates waiting for one or two exams and dealing with tests expiring.

Newsflash – New test will be harder only to those who are familiar with the “old” test. Those taking the exam for the first time under the new way will know no difference and it will just be a “hard” test like it currently is for people taking in the old format.

Also I would assume about 50% of the people taking the exams still pass each quarter. So in reality, there will be little change with the new exam.

If you study hard and know the info you will still pass adjusted for the good and bad luck exams that either hit on your strong points or completely miss them. I felt lucky in that regard as 3 of the 4 exams seemed to focus on my strong points and avoided topics I prayed would be avoided.

First go at the CPA! Only using Becker
    Reg / Nov 2015 - 87
    Far / Apr 2016 - 79
    Bec / May 2016 - 80
    Aud / Aug 2016

This is why everyone with a CPA license will tell you they could never pass again.
The exam sucks but people will find a way to pass.

    FAR - 05/2015
    AUD - 75,11/2014
    REG - 07/2015
    BEC - 09/2015

Praying I don't have to mess with it. The 10 week wait time for score release is enough to scare me away from wanting to take it..
