Despite my research and searching old posts I cant seem to find any info on this so I thought I would just ask. Does anyone know if I start and take at least one section in 2016, am I subject to the new format in 2017 for remaining sections? Can you provide a reference (link) as to where you found this information? Thank you

They aren't going to run two separate exam formats simultaneously to accomodate those who started before the change. Once the exam changes anybody who takes the exam will be using the same format.

As far as I know everyone will be taking the new format in 2017.

All information that has been posted about the changes has indicated that the exams will change in 2017; none of it has indicated any grandfathering program. So, it's known through absence of any information to the contrary. Also, previous changes have of a similar nature have not had a grandfathering program. The exam has always been the same for all people taking it in a given window, not different formats or content depending on when the individual first took the exam.

If you want to pass the 2016 version, just pass it this year. 🙂

I've been around a while and seen changes to the exam before. It's called the uniform CPA exam because everyone taking the exam at a given point in time is under the same format. If the AICPA had to track who gets which exam they'd blow up the fees. No need to take my word for it but this is not the first time the format of the exam has changed.
