SkynetParticipantWhat are your goals? Do you feel you are on track? Are you behind in trying to achieve them? Setbacks? And if there are setbacks what are you doing to get back on track?
My goals:
Pass BEC and REG in 2014
Land a public accounting job in 2015
Pass FAR and AUD in 3rd quarter of 2015
I had a slight setback when I did poorly for BEC and got a 71 for REG, but I plan on passing both this year.

AnonymousInactiveI graduated (undergrad/120 credits) in May, passed FAR in July. accepted to grad school for Spring 2015.
AUD on 8/20
career fair in October, hope to get a public accounting internship for next summer
REG in October
BEC in November
start MAcc in January
summer internship (if gotten)
more MAcc in Fall
more MAcc in Spring, graduate that semester
start working for summer internship firm after that.
I like having things planned out way in advance, that way every step of the way I can have numerous panic attacks about each deviation.

SkynetParticipantOne of the reason I started this thread is so that by writing out your goals and as the time goes by, you can look back to see if you are on track and making progress. And if you are not, you would have to reevaluate and make he necessary changes with a sense of urgency because by not adressing the issues, you will just keep getting off track.

Iggy1985MemberFinish my last 4 classes this semester for my B/S in accounting and keep my 4.0
Not just pass, but get an 84+ on FAR in 2 days.. feels like a long shot though. (don't stoppp, believingg, hold on to that feelinnng >_>) Luck and Sleep is what I need!
Be able to to feel more confident when interviewing with firms in September due to goal #2
Decide if I want to go Big 4.. did a tax internship at a local, top 100 firm last tax season
Decide if taxes aren't for me, leaning to audit now
Get a 90+ on AUD in October
I've come a long way.. got a bachelor's degree in something else entirely (picked a major out of a hat basically) with seriously mediocre grades and didn't know what to do with my life.. tried like 100 different things until I gave accounting a shot, knew for sure what I wanted to do finally, and then I just went full speed ahead and I've been surprising myself ever since. I hope I can keep on doing that.
FAR - 89 (8/19/14) Wiley TB, Wiley Book, Books from School, Ninja Audio/Notes
AUD - 92 (10/14/14) Wiley TB, Wiley Book, Ninja Audio

REG - (8/14/15)August 18, 2014 at 5:38 am #635210
JamesBJamesParticipantMy short-term goals are:
Pass REG
Clean up everything, pack, move from my hometown to my apartment in the city I'll be working, donate whatever I don't need
Buy more business professional clothes
Buy furniture for the apartment
Then, hopefully, sort of relax for a month before I start working
My goal for today is to finish C corporation taxation and do the 130-odd questions Becker has about them. I'm not doing so well on getting that done.
FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88Licensed December 2015

kappa1032ParticipantMy goals are to Pass REG in Aug, AUD in Oct, and BEC in Nov. That's my tunnel vision and I'm not stopping until I get there.
So far I'm about a day behind in my studies – shouldn't be impossible to catch up but I'd rather not fall behind at all. Work is getting a little slow so I am very fortunate to study during the lulls. Should be able to catch up by end of day tomorrow.
Great idea Skynet!!
FAR - 81
REG - 74, 87
AUD - 88
BEC - 88Finally.

AnonymousInactiveMy goals for the rest of 2014:
– Take and hopefully pass FAR on August 25th
– If I don't pass FAR on my first attempt, re-take and pass it in October
– Study for and take state licensing exams for health, life, property, and casualty insurance
I think I'm on track to make my goals fairly attainable this year. I started my CPA exam journey back in late January and after taking a few months off after BEC for tax season I was just hoping to have all of the exams passed before my BEC score expires next year. Fortunately, REG and AUD worked out well on my first attempts, so I can focus all of my attention on getting through FAR now.
I'd say I'm actually ahead of where I wanted to be in terms of exam status at this point, which is very good for my morale. My biggest setback so far was tax season this year, which derailed my study mentality after BEC and made studying for REG very difficult until just a few weeks before that exam. To get back on track, I just kept at my studying until I got back into a good rhythm and haven't stopped since.
I'm already established in my career, but I'm excited to get my CPA license so I can do even more for my employer and clients. And my employer is going to be setting up a separate business entity for us to start offering financial services and products to our clients who are interested in them, which I'll also be helping with (hence the insurance licensing exams I'm planning for after the CPA exam). I'm looking forward to 2015, though- the year of hopefully absolutely no studying! 🙂

SkynetParticipantGood Goals Guys. Now we just have to follow through and make sure we have no setbacks and if we do, that we don't get sidetrack.
August 18, 2014 at 6:11 pm #635216
AnonymousInactiveGoals:
1) Get a passing AUD score.
2) Keep my FAR studying pace up and hopefully take by the end of October.
3) Get REG done right at the beginning of '15.
4) If I am able to complete the first 3 steps on the first try (not likely), I would try and squeeze in BEC before tax season gets crazy busy.
While I know that it will be very difficult to pass all of the exams on the first try and I may not be giving myself enough time for BEC if the first 3 steps get accomplished, this is what I will be striving for.
