I’ve posted a bit during my current journey but have never shared my full CPA story, it’s now time for anyone who needs some motivation. It may seem like it was easy but my first sitting for the exam was approximately 10 years ago immediately after I finished my MACC. I rocked through FAR, REG, and BEC, but failed AUD twice before receiving some crushing medical news-the ovarian cysts that had caused me pain for years were cancerous. I put the exam on hold for a few months to have surgery, lost an ovary and my husband and I made peace with the reality that our 8 year old daughter would most likely be an only child. Back to testing and two more AUD sittings, still no pass, and the possibility of losing credit for other sections was looming, but I had one more chance to test. Of course I got one more curveball, the best one of my life, while studying and less than a year after my surgery I found out I was surprise pregnant with my son. I did not pass AUD, and let all other sections expire because above all else that was my time to be a mommy again and the exam took a back burner. Over the years I have picked it up one other time semi-seriously and actually tackled/passed AUD first. Thing is after that I took REG and failed it twice, of course as a tax accountant that made me so angry I let the AUD expire and quit again. In September 2016 I put my entire life on hold to study. I told my husband that if I didn’t pass this time I wouldn’t test again. It only took 5 dedicated months of studying to get this monster behind me and finally reach my life goal. I have realized through all of this that in order to tackle a test of this magnitude your head needs to be in the right place. It’s been posted over and over again on this forum that perserverence and dedication are what it takes to pass, which is so true. Please don’t give up, just know that in your time you WILL pass. I really can’t believe I sent my licensing application today so many years later. Even stranger my passing score came on my son’s 8th birthday!!!!!
