History Major. Psychology Minor. Extensive coursework in Economics. Got into the business world after college, went back to school (undergrad) for Accounting 10 years after getting by B.S., took all the classes needed to sit for the exam, passed, and got my license. Start of school (2nd round) to licensure timeframe was 2.5 years. In the process of negotiating buying a small accounting/tax firm. So worth every minute of it.

Wow. I, like jw_83, also got my undergraduate degree in Graphic Communications. It was in 2008. After the recession really hit, jobs were scarce. I was let go from several jobs that weren't really paying all that well, and it seemed like all of the printing companies were closing in the area. I knew I needed to do something more financially responsible, so I went back and got my Master of Accountancy. Now I'm a bank Auditor, hoping to get my license this summer. 🙂

Undergrad was psychology and pre-med. Got into medical school but when they found out I was on a student visa and not a green card (I'm Canadian) they deferred my admission for a year so I could have time to get it (pretty much impossible unless you get married). In the meantime, decided to go for a MBA and found I liked business much better than medicine. Started working as a financial analyst during grad school and have progressed in my career over the past 10 years in finance. Decided to get my CPA license last year to boost my credentials and hope to eventually land a CFO-type job.

    BS in Management.

While in college, I avioded accounting as much as possible.

Of course I didn't get a job in management right out of college, so I started working in accounting in Las Vegas hotel&casino.

After several jobs in accounting, I moved to IL. IL has a little easier educational requirement to sit for the CPA exam than NV, so here I am!
