Got my Bachelor's in Cinematography and specialized in Screenwriting (minor in English). How's that for a change?

I have a BA in English and Communications. I was living in Chicago at the time and was writing for a few magazines and newspapers (music reviews, interviewing bands, etc). Then I married my wife and moved to The South…where there were no writing jobs. So, I worked at a bookstore for a while, got to know the accountant and realized most of the day to day tasks came pretty naturally.

    CPA, CFE
CISA- Experience will be completed by August 2016

    Bec - Passed 77
    Reg- Passed 77

The transition really wasn't that difficult for me. I audit investment companies. When I got here I felt miles behind the other 1st years that had Accounting majors, but I find that auditing is something that you can learn on the job. I'm just grateful that they gave me the opportunity (I'm sure my good grades didn't hurt). As far as applying economic theory concepts, I am able to to some extent, mostly for higher level analysis.

I majored in Business Management and worked for 6 years as a commercial real estate broker before transitioning into accounting because of the financial/analytical part of the profession.

My degree is in Business Administration but I didn't finish until 2007 at 41 years old.

Before that I was a real estate paralegal and I started three businesses of my own. I sold them and went “straight” after my kids went off to college. I had empty nest at 41 and decided to continue with education and CPA after the degree. The saga continues…

I got a bachelors in graphic communications. There was not many jobs in my area for this. I was commuting 50 mi one way for 10/hr. I eventually took a receptionist position with a local beverage distributor making the same amount of money plus benefits. I worked my way to bookkeeping for the Anheuser-Busch division. Once I had my first son, I decided I wanted to be able to provide more for him. I went back to school to be able to take over as office manager when the current one retired. However, once I got my MSA I started looking at CPA firms. Within 2 months, I was hired by a small local firm and here I am 3 years later waiting for my final score.

    REG - 64, 72, 81!
    FAR - 77
    AUD - 79
    BEC - 72, 79! And Done!
