    Psychology major here.

I started out with an interest in counseling, but had a desire to work with children and adolescents. Worked intake for an insurance company for a year and realized that the PARENTS are the problem 99% of the time and I got sick to DEATH of hearing parents whine about how their 2 year old has ADD. NOPE. YOUR TWO YEAR OLD IS TWO YEARS OLD. They're distractable by nature, not ill.

SO, in the process of working the insurance company and figuring out what to do, I got really really good at claims. Something would get messed up and confusing, I was able to figure it out. So I moved to the claims audit department, which I was also very good at.

Worked with auditors from places like KPMG and PwC, since we had audits for SAS70 and things like that. Decided I'd see what it took to do their job – answer: CPA.

So off to school with me. Now here I sit, *mostly* working tax, but interested in moving more audit-ward, since that's where my original interest in accounting stemmed from. Love both, though, and narrowing it down will be tough! (Where I am is so small I get to do EVERYTHING and I love it!)

    FAR - 79 (11/27/13)
    AUD - 76 (2/1/14)
    REG - 77 (5/30/14)
    BEC - 88 (7/18/14)

    MN Ethics - 100% (3/9/14)

    AND DONE! 8/1/14

I eventually majored in accounting but started out as pre-med. I was interested in optometry. Did all my sciences including biologies, inorganic chems, organic chems, genetics and anatomies. Even observed an optometrist for a number of months and decided I really didn't want to sit in a dark room for the rest of my life. Decided to just start taking business classes and accounting clicked for me 😉 The switching ended up working in my favor as I had enough credit hours to sit for the CPA.

@Casagarber – very similar here! Before psych, I was a Chem/bio major. Got through organic and inorganic chemistry, physics… and then Calc 2 killed me and made me seriously re-evaluate my life choices. I'm really glad I did, because I'm happy with accounting (if not with the exam itself…)

I graduated with an Economics major.

One of the Big 4 were having a networking event at my University and I showed up just for the heck of it. The person I spoke with there told me to apply for an internship and if I did well, they would hire me full time. Which I did, and now I here I am studying for the CPA.

B.S. in Business and an MBA. Started looking for jobs to learn I was overqualified in education and underqualified in experience (shocking, I know). Didn't know exactly what I wanted to do except that I did NOT want to do accounting. Unfortunately that was all that was out there at the time. I took contract and temp positions in every aspect of accounting (AP, AR, Inventory Control, etc.) and learned how everything was interconnected. Took a permanent job 7 years ago as a financial analyst, which was project based and allowed me to work with a bunch of different departments as a liason for the accounting department. Became the backup for the accounting department and covered for every employee in the department when out and learned all of their jobs. 3 years ago the Assistant Controller quit and I was asked to take over the department on one condition, get my CPA. So here I am. I thought I was done with school, but apparently not. Still not excited about doing this for a living, but it pays the bills and apparently accounting is where I am supposed to be.

Got my Bachelor's in Cinematography and specialized in Screenwriting (minor in English). How's that for a change?
