I found a very helpful book at my library yesterday –
“You Can Pass the CPA Exam” by Debra R. Hopkins, CPA, CIA
The book was published by Wiley in 2009, and some of the info on the format of the exam is outdated (changed in 2011). But, it has some Great advice on how to motivate yourself, prepare a study plan, how to manage your time, and many other topics. I’m actually going to use the advice in here and re-doing my study plan. I really like the way it is laid out in the book. I really recommend it, especially to those at the beginning or struggling with re-takes.
Here’s an example of the chapters in the book.
A Time and Place for Everything
Assessing your strengths and weaknesses
The multiple-choice component
The simulation component -No fear
Developing your Personal study plan
Study strategies to improve your memory
Coping with family, friends and coworkers
Revising your personal study plan
FAR: Tough it out
Nerves of Steel
Time management and Other mistakes to avoid
Congratulations — You Are a CPA!
