I’m a recent graduate, fresh out of Graduate School (Master of Accountancy) with a dream to work abroad. However, I’m finding it hard to get an offer at a University or in the Industry. I’m in the U.S.A and wanted to know if anyone had tips or knew schools I could apply to.

I did get one offer to teach primary schools but it didn’t feel right. Then I got a job offer to teach Accounting at an American University in China and declined the offer for other reasons. Kinda wishing I could ask for the offer back since a job is better than no job.

Now I get offers but the reviews are either bad or I can’t find more information on the schools. Please help 😊

    Thanks,

    Bunny

    Hi,

I suspect you're having a difficult time finding placement in a university since you're probably a bit under-qualified. Typically, universities hire research faculty and teaching faculty. Research faculty, of course almost always will have a doctorate. Teaching faculty generally have a Master's Degree + Professional License + Work Experience. While you do have the master's, I think you're probably lacking on the other two. It's not to say that you won't be able to find a placement period, but personally I'm of the opinion that you would have better luck going the primary or industry route.

It's not hard to find placement, I'm getting replies/offers but the benefits aren't as good as the last offer I declined. The only ones where you need PhD and experience is at the top universities. Also, going into the industry in another country with a visa sponsorship is harder for me. The high-demand for primary schools pay more than university professors in China so that's another issue. I think I'll keep trying until I find a good fit with good benefits and will learn from this journey or regret turning down the other offer haha. ^_^ Thank you and hope you have a great summer.
