I work for a mid-tier accounting firm. A lot of my coworkers don’t want to do individuals. They want to do entity work. Why is that?

Because entity taxation for me personally is much more complex and challenging. Not to mention you have a balance sheet to tie to whereas an individual you more or less slop everything onto the return and pray the manager signs off 🙂

Everyone has their own opinion. I personally love any tax work and have no clue why anyone would want to be in Audit. To each his own.

Hi I work in tax with a lot of individual and entity clients. For me, I feel there are usually 3 reasons someone doesn't like individual tax:

1.) They enjoy the organization of entity clients vs. individuals (financial statements, records, being able to tie-out, etc)
2.) They enjoy working on larger/more challenging projects vs running through individual clients.
3.) They view the transition from individual to business clients as part of career progression (often, they may think of 1040 clients as intern/first-year work).

While there are exceptions to all 3 of these, I feel that these are the most common reasons.
