Why can't studying ever go as planned?

Today I left work early and had reserved all night tonight to study hard and get ahead in my studies. Apparently the world had other plans. I walked into my apartment to find out that my water heater exploded while I was at work, blew a hole in my wall, and flooded mine and my neighbors apartments. Needless to say I did not get any studying done. Does anyone else here ever feel like there is some force trying to keep them from doing well on these exams? Why can’t I just study in peace and pass these stupid tests?

    That's a
bummer. We put our lives on hold to tackle these tests but life still keeps rolling on.

This morning I took REG at the nearest Prometric office, two hours from my house. The test was atressful enough, but on my way home, my truck dropped a valve 50 miles from my house and I had to wait nearly three hours for the tow truck. I thank my lucky stars this didn't happen on the way there or I would have lost my freakin' mind.

Yes. I often feel the same. Took REG back in August and failed rescheduled for first week of Oct but due to a family emergency that put me off track wasn't able to take the exam until November. That all messed up my plan on taking AUD and now shortened my study time for FAR.. Things dont always go as plan but its a matter how we face it I guess.

All I can say is best of luck to you and do your best, that is all that counts.

    I totally understand this.

I had a hard time studying to start with because it took over 2 MONTHS to get my NTS. I applied for it in mid-September and didn't get it until the week before Thanksgiving, which was my original date to take the test.

Then, during this time, I tore my wrist joint (had to wear a brace for two weeks), dropped a few kidney stones (no ER for me, but several days of pain and fatigue), and then I caught the flu right after Christmas. Not to mention other personal/holiday things going on.

Unfortunately, that's just the way life goes sometimes.

This exam is hard enough without life getting in the way. Now throw in basically anything that could happen. I first decided I was going to study for this exam back in January 2015. I finished off a fiscal year at my part time job (was working full time as well) and was ready to start beginning of February. Literally, the day before I was going to start, we found out that my husband has a brain tumor. That was a shocker.

Flash forward almost 2 years, I'm working full time, running a household, trying to lose weight, and studying for my CPA. It's a lot, but I'll get there one way or another. One thing I've learned is to be flexible about my study time. I try to never get behind because most likely, I won't be able to catch up.

I got a flat tire on my way to an exam once. I didn't run over a nail and get a small hole. Whatever I hit (Jaws himself) completely shredded my tire all the way around. My testing center is an hour away too…after giving them my sob story (actually sobbed), they let me come in an hour late, which they say NEVER happens. Ended up failing that test anyway haha. I always thought it was a sign that maybe I shouldn't be doing this.

I know what you mean! I only have two weeks left for AUD and my whole family now is sick. My toddler is sick which means many sleepless nights and no brains to study in the day. I cant push back the date bc I need to take REG in March. Reg is my weakness so I need at least 7 weeks of study.

Tell me about it. I schedule 2-3 hours per day from here until Feb. My older daughter got sick, then my son, now i'm really sick. I got two heavy work assignments. I was able to put 1 hr yesterday and 1 today.

Not to mention, I had a FLAT TIRE ON MY WAY TO BEC!!!! I blame my 73 on that stupid tire. 😉
