Why AUD pass rate is low

After 10 days of studying multiple choice questions, my eyes are burning. The material is extremely easy to understand, BUT questions are sooooo wordy. You have to read every single answer given. I can see why a four hour test on this topic would be difficult. After reading 30 questions continuously my eyes are seeing “audit” instead of “after”. It’s a test of endurance, not knowledge.

For FAR and BEC, I was able to go through each questions 3 times but for AUD, my old eyes are bleeding. Should’ve been a 3 hour test!

I think the pass rate is low because a lot of people who sit for the test work in audit and mistakenly believe that since they work in audit, and have performed audits, the test should be easy, and as a result, they don't study the materials.

@EZ_Sims_4_me_Pls I'm an auditor for the State of Indiana so my job is to audit governmental units, basically anything that receives property tax money. And I think you nailed your response. When I started to study for AUD I kept thinking how “easy” it was because I was “familiar” with many of the concepts. I didn't drill down on them like I did for BEC because I thought it would just make sense and come to me.

Little did I realize, I don't really do any of that stuff in my job. All of that is decided for me or is macro'd into our workpapers. I don't ever write an opinion or draft a final report or management letter. Those are boilerplate forms we just open and possibly “tweak” to fit our particular job.

That being said, I'm going to have to study for my retake like I don't know anything about the subject. Hopefully that will help me when it comes time to take the exam.

I think Audit tends to have lower pass rates because it's the most conceptual test and it involves reading skill. Basically it tests intelligence and reading ability more than the others. REG and BEC are, mostly, memorization/tedium tests and FAR has a bit of everything, making it its own challenge.
