Haha, lots of turnover and burnout! Nasty emails to angry coworkers, fight with auditors! And, job that takes forever …to save company whole $3 dollars …sitting in stinky & stuffy office. That's classic!

I LOVE that one of the kids. Good article too Seattle!

Oh and to add I wanted to be a lawyer most of my childhood because I saw how much money they made during my parents' divorce. LOL Then somehow (actually don't recall) I headed into the business direction once I hit HS. My dad said accounting would be the best so I could eventually do anything in business and here I am today!

Surprisingly, I wanted to be an accountant at a young age, but only because my abuela (grandmother) was an accountant…never wanted to be a CPA….though my dad would use the title as though it were some easily attainable item…..my pops had no idea lol

Ok so this is really strange…but my grandmother and I have always been close and when I was younger she would constantly watch QVC, Home Shopping Network, etc. …and I suppose that's what caused me to want to be a shoe model lol

To be fair, I went through phases with different ideas of what I wanted to be when I grew up. Landscape architect, singer, TV chef on food network lol

I'd go back and forth so much! I remember trying to open up little “stores” in my room… so I'd invite my family in to buy videos or books. Once I put a chair up on my bed and pretended I was a judge. Oh boy… I used to always want to “invent” something, too. My brother got me a science kit (microscope, slides, etc…) when I was around 7 or 8, and my friend came over and I told her, “Ok, you find the cure for cancer, I'll work on the cure for AIDS.” Because, obviously, it's that simple… I really wanted to be a graphic designer for a few years.

In high school, I wanted to be a nurse. And then my dad and a few teachers I had senior year changed my mind. I took accounting my senior year of high school, so that was always on my mind. As a freshman in college, I wanted to major in marketing (thank God I didn't), but then headed the accounting route my sophomore year. I've been fairly happy with my decision!

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.

I'll tell you what I DIDN'T want to be: A compliance officer in the financial industry. (As I sit here ticking off year 16 of this particular career… )

I DID however want to be an astronaut. As close as I got to that is some of the stupid things my people do make me see stars.

I wanted to be a Vet. I totally loved being with animals and still do.

Unfortunately just as I graduated High School my father was bankrupt and we lost all my university funds.

I had to start working odd jobs to earn money to pay for accounting certifications since it was what I was able to barely afford at the time. I worked myself into a Firm job at a minimum wage and was able to then pay to study for my Bachelors in Accounting as well as obtain the work experience I needed to move on to better paid jobs in Finance.

    FAR 05/27/14; 786/110 - Done !

I wanted to be the Queen of England most days, but then other days I wanted to be a writer. The only reason I'm a CPA is because I was better at accounting than writing and the Queen job was sort of taken!
