Which program has the better test bank?

    CPAexcel or Gleim? I have the package with CPAexcel, that grants access to the Wiley bank as well (approx 8,000 MCQ for all sections). Not sure how many MCQs Gleim has for all 4 parts.

    I’ve heard that unrelated to MCQs, Gleim has better practice SIMs.

    Thoughts?

    I have the Wiley software, but choose to use Ninja's MCQ test bank for review. The questions seem closer to what's on the exam. Plus, for $47, you can't go wrong. I haven't used Gleim before.

    @Meg267:

    First, thanks for responding. Second, when you say that you used NINJA MCQ for “review”, does that mean you went with Wiley for your first pass through the material? Just curious.

    I work through all the Wiley lessons and the MCQ in the lessons. Once I finish Wiley, then I move over to Ninja for review before my exam. It works better for me to have two different study materials so that I can see the different ways topics are presented.

    Thanks. I took BEC back in February of last year and passed, but I could kick myself for screwing around and letting the score almost expire now. I need to get serious with this, or not do it at all!!! I've read varying opinions on the new exam format, but in your opinion would you say that it is harder or just different?

    Just different. The only “hard” part would be the fact that the simulations are not all in one testlet, so you can't pick and choose which ones to do first.

    Personally, I do better with the simulations. The AUD exam I failed, I was comparable in the Sims but weaker in MCQ. So having less MCQ and an additional simulation will probably work better in my favor. I guess I'll see when the score release happens πŸ™‚

    Good to hear, that it is just “different”. I think Jeff stated that people were freaking out for nothing; although these exams period, are no walk in the park.Lol I've heard nightmares regarding some of these new simulations, however. I guess at the end of the day, you either know the material or you don't. Time will tell for me, I guess. My main thing, is getting seriously motivated and maintaining it!!!

    I've been struggling with staying motivated as well! I'm just plain old tired. I'm tired of studying. I want to do fun things instead of studying!

    I'm trying to look at it this way — if I pass AUD (which I feel like I did, just awaiting score), the next two weeks could be the last time I study if I get my butt in gear and pound out FAR. If not, I'll have to retake FAR and could still be finished with all of this by the end of the year. That alone is pushing me forward.

    Ninja MCQ. The Wiley SIMS for REG are better though.

    If I were as far along as you, while it might be difficult still to stay motivated, it wouldn't be as bad as knowing I'm basically starting from scratch!!! I'm no different than others who do this while working full-time, but like you, I'm just plain exhausted!!! Circumstances prevented me from going after the certification long ago, or I'd have attempted it some time ago. Working full-time and trying to do this (not to mention the fun distractions you brought up), makes this even more challenging. I know, I know…whine, whine, whine!!! LOL

    I work full time as well πŸ™‚ It's tough to do it all. I've been at this for over 1.5 years. At least you've passed BEC before, so if you had to, you could do it again πŸ™‚

    True. It was good to get a pass on BEC the first time, even though it was barely a pass. We need to have a big cookout, and burn all of our study materials when done; although you'll be way before me, I'm sure. :))

    I haven't read all the responses on this thread so I apologize if I repeat anyone but I thought I would give my two cents. I have Wiley CPAexcel and used the test bank for my first exam with FAR (I failed with a 67). I personally think Wiley's test bank is odd. I don't know how else to explain it. The questions are kind of weird and the explanations do not help at all. Ninja MCQ is the way to go for a final review test bank, in my opinion. It is cheap, and even better, each question usually has a very detailed response which helps you understand why you got the question wrong and why the correct answer is right. Further, each question has links to definitions which is helpful when you are still learning the material or just to freshen up your memory on certain terms. I would highly, highly recommend Ninja!

    @Summer:

    Thank you very much!!! It seems silly to ask this, since every CPA review program (or almost all) utilizes prior AICPA questions, but did you find the NINJA MCQ compatible with the actual questions on the exams? Also, how would you rate the NINJA SIMs, in terms of equal difficulty to the real thing? Thanks in advance!!!
