    hello
this is my first full-time job ever – except 2 month internship at a small company-
i’ve received two offers form 2 big four companies
    the first one: 1 year
    low salary
professional development: CPA and online courses
    bigger office
employees seemed stressed out – even though, i had the interview not during busy season
but many have said that this company is better than the other companies branch in my city, in areas of training and development.
interview: i felt comfortable to speak fluently

    the second: 3 years contract
    higher salary
    small office
professional development: CPA + 7 weeks paid vacation to study other than 5 annual vacation
    seemed less stressful
    employees seemed nice and smiled
interview: the first one went well. but i was nervous on the second interview because it seemed like it was a meaningless interview that the auditor brought me in only to have a normal conversation and the HR expression was like uninterested in hearing me + was on his phone + didn’t look at me at all
& the person on the reception desk kept asking me about my nationality and if I’m in the right place
should i take it as a red flag of possible discrimination

    note: I’m at an international location/female/not a U.S Citizen

what should i do? i do feel the first one is more exciting to work with

    Congrats on the two offers!

What are the main service areas for each Company? Does either one have any particular appeal in the industries they service or type of audit work they perform?

Being stressed out is not a 100% bad thing, it at least means that they can keep you chargeable.

Are there other compensatory factors like commute, 401k match, bonuses, etc. That make one more appealing than the other?

Dont worry regarldess of which you pick if its in public you will be stressed..lol

Take the money if its in public..Always..most small firms are the same..so why not get paid the most you can.

Ive never heard of employment contracts..which is odd.

Congrats! Sounds like you are well on your way to a bright career at either location. I would say follow your gut – from your post it seems like you are leaning towards the first company?? When I'm conflicted about a decision, I try to compare the best case scenarios with the worst case scenarios…something like a pros/cons list. Which best case is better, which worst case is worse? What can you live with? For job #1 – do you want to be stressed out with lower pay but have more job enrichment? For job #2, do you want more pay to be potentially discriminated on?
    Good luck!

Go with your gut…..go wherever you think you will be happiest emotionally. This is a “taxing” career. Go where you think you will excel the most. Do a real emotional study of yourself and pick the job that best fits your personality. Professional fit is more important than anything.
