I don’t mean where do you think it ranks as far as reputation amongst certifications or anything like that.

I mean as far as difficulty and personal feeling of achievement, where would you rank the CPA in those areas for yourself?

I guess I was just thinking about this because I take hopefully my final exam on Monday, and from a personal achievement perspective and difficulty perspective, this exam is the toughest thing I have ever done and my most crowning personal achievement. Granted I am just in my late 20’s, and there are things I am more proud of in a general sense like my little girl. From a personal achievement stand point if I pass my last exam this window, for me this will have been my biggest achievement to date.

    AUD - 2/2013 - Passed!
    BEC - 5/2013 - Passed!
    FAR - 8/2013 - Passed!
    REG - 11/2013 - Passed!

    1. Somehow I got my husband to like and then love me (and then get him to ask me to marry him). That's the best thing going for me, now, for the past 3 years, and hopefully for like 70 more!

    2. CPA. It's a verrry close second!

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.

First of all, I love Mints' #6!!!

CPA was the number one most difficult thing in my life. I have never had to be more focused or determined for anything else before. It tested my character. It ruined my friendships and relationships with family. Yet I stuck it out. And I will forever be proud of it.

CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    FAR - 53('10), 8/25/12 79 PASSED!
    REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
    BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!
    AUD - 43('11), 66('12), 69('13), 74('13) 7/29/13 85 PASSED!!!!!

Thanks Little#CPA!!!! I feel so proud of you every time I see your signature!!!! šŸ™‚

BTW if you like #6 then you'll love this one: Some time after I'd been promoted over that awful office manager, who's favorite quip was the “you aren't qualified to fetch dry cleaning”, I ended up getting revenge unintentionally via the owner! The owner and I happened to be using the same dry cleaner at the time of this incident. One day the owner must have overheard that jerk making their standard issue one-liner about my qualifications and the owner snapped “you know, Mints isn't on the admin side anymore and has billable work do to. Please let her get back to it. And by the way, Mints and I are working late on a project tonight so she won't have time to pick up her clothes from the cleaner on her way home. Mints, please give Mrs. X your dry cleaning slip so she can pick up yours when she gets mine this afternoon. By the way, great job on ABC corporation's year-end. Your work papers are impeccable!”

I just stood there and smiled. Then I handed Mrs. X my pick up slip and responded that I'd already paid for it and to have a nice afternoon. Karma is a b****. šŸ˜‰

Maybe I'll send 2 dozen roses instead.

Omg Mints!!! That is awesome. She sounds like a B. Glad you never listened to her worthless words. Jealous women can be so mean.

CPA and other life events ranking

Personally, passing CPA exam is a huge achievement and while I'm still waiting for the license approval, it definitely got doors open for me (promotion). From the height of my years, CPA is important but other things do come first:

    #1. Being healthy

#2. Finding your half. The true half that will stick with you for years thru thick & thin. This is mega important in my book.

    #3. Having healthy kids.

    #4. Graduating from college/university

    #5. Passing CPA exam

#6. Having desirable workplace/employer/industry in contrast to whatever workplace became more possible once I've passed all parts of the exam – I had a lot of progress in this area since receiving my last score in early September!!!

Becker Class of Jan - Aug 2013: FARB DONE!!!!

I'm going to have to agree with SeattleAccountant's list. I never placed that much importance on health because I've never had any health problems so I took it for granted until I breezed through 3 easy pregnancies while several of my friends had major issues. That was when I realized that my health was #1. I met my other half 13 years ago and while the road isn't always easy, it's wonderful to have a true partner in life that will stand by your side no matter what. Children are an achievement unlike any other. You see your smiles in their smiles, you see your husband's eyes in their eyes. You can't picture life without them. Graduating college and then grad school still ranks over the CPA because I didn't think I would actually graduate undergrad. I might have done it in 3 years IF socializing was a major. Who knew you wouldn't pass when you showed up to class drunk from the night before??!! The fact that I decided to turn my life around, drink and party a little less, and actually attend class and pay attention was a miracle. Actually #s 1-3 probably wouldn't have occurred if I had stayed on that dark path, so maybe this should truly be #1. šŸ™‚ The CPA would be next. It is not easy by any means, but it just can't top the other things I have going on in my life that would be precious with or without those 3 letters.
