Where does all that money go?

    Just curious…

Exam application fees, rescheduling fees, cancelling fees, etc, where does it go? Aren’t the AICPA and NASBA basically non-profit organizations?

I understand there is the Elijah Watt Sells award, but if you look at the number of those who received this award and how many ppl actually took the exam in a year, you’ll notice the rewards are a very small percentage of all those exam fees (determined by the published number of ppl who took the exam).

Does Prometric eat most of it up? Are those employed by AICPA and NASBA, Prometric stockholders? Lol

Should of started with FAR:P Nonprofits receive money from both contributions and fees for their services.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

No doubt, but you might as well refer to them as Walmart with those profit margins…

Non-profit doesn't mean that they literally cannot make a profit. They need to receive the majority of their revenue from sources related to their mission.

You should look them up on guide star…

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

Lobbying, “Research” aka more smooch parties, if you want to make money work for an institution/union/NRA something that is membership driven and a monopoly. I have a couple of friends that work for those places sometimes I think they are telling me lies when they talk about team building lunches and getaways, until I see pictures of the Enron type of parties, because of record breaking membership and higher than expected revenues. People get good champagne and wine at Christmas parties, and ipads. You get Fridays off and good health care etc.

The Elijah Watt Sells award is sponsored by the big 4/5 it changes every year I cant even keep track and CPA review publishing houses ie. Wiley/Devry etc. Most of the award ceremonies are sponsored. Look at the fb page.

Its a good business plan, I applaud them for thinking of it first. Doesn't help hating them. “CPA's are trustworthy” 😉

That new banner that is your non-profit marketing costs and tax deductible, expanding the CPA brand internationally that is also deductible expense. Funnel all revenues to expenses to research, advertising and salaries then you don't show a ridiculous profit.

K street DC keeps the economy moving and us employed. For CPA's to succeed we need a complex IRS code and our current accounting system. Has anyone invented and won noble price for new way of accounting. No that would make CPA designation irrelevant and not on my watch I have spent too much money and time studying for this darn thing and it must pay off.

Morale of the story I must pay for my retake and and the ethics exam to keep me employed.

@jgh Before this entire process, I was loathing taking this exam on a computer because I like to underline key words in questions. I suggested to my friends that this exam be administered on iPads with styluses haha. Imagine!
