I am not enjoying studying but I know it will pay off soon and I know there is an end in sight. For those of you who have transferred to big 4 after studying, which was worse? social life is gone when you have to study, does the same go for big 4?

I took the exam while working Big 4 – specifically I took 2 exams in January while working OT. They both sucked. My favorite part of the day was my drive home from work.

Big 4 isn't as bad as most people say. Big 4 is what you make it. It can be bad. There are always going to be those points during busy season, but outside of busy season, you work your 40-45 hours and go home each night and enjoy your weekends.

People who say any different do not know how to manage their schedule, are inefficient workers, don't know how to delegate work around and/or don't know how to say no to their managers because they are afraid of “competition” (which is bull crap in the big 4 too and if you think you are competing, you care way too much about work and you deserve to work like a dog if you value it more than a personal life). I work in Big 4 now as a tax accountant and I am doing just fine. I may have the occasional 70 hour week during busy season, but for the most part it's only 55-60.

If I had the choice to work at a Big 4, I'd take it every time.

The payoff will always be worth it in the long run if you're looking to set yourself up for a strong long-term goal. Of course, people who don't join Big 4 can still do just as fine, but why bring a knife to a gun fight?
