What's the feedback on the white board instead of paper/pencil? - Page 2

Now that some time has passed with the white boards replacing the paper/pencil, what’s the general feedback? Is it a massive pain? Do you run out of room and need to ask for more white boards? Any suggestions on the most efficient way to use them (i.e. do I need to write very small to save room)?

Exam is coming up in a few days, curious if I need to keep anything in mind as this will be new for me.

I didn't have too much trouble with the board. Sometimes the pen wouldn't write but it wasn't that big of a deal.

I definitely prefer the paper and pencil approach. I had no idea that they were changing to the white (yellow) board in 2013, and was quite surprised when I went for FAR and they gave me two sheets of yellow laminated paper and a pen! Furthermore, three out of the four sides with which I had to work were lined (i.e. graph paper), and I liked that even less!

I would much appreciate a return to the paper and pencil!

I had the same experience as InterFC1: two laminated sheets, three sides of which had grids printed on them, and only one side that was unlined. It's not an algebra test, what do we need boxes for? That said, though, it wasn't awful, just an inconvenience.

To be honest, I only used the board once and that took up less than 5% of the space. It seems nice though. You can't erase what you've written. You're given 2 pen before starting.

I sat for Audit yesterday and I thought the note boards were a messy nuisance! I LOVE to write things out and make notations. I filled up my entire blue book when I sat for REG! I received 2 laminated pieces of graph paper and 2 fine point permanent markers to use. My boards were very clean and my markers worked well, but I noticed as I was preparing my “data dump” sheet my hand kept smearing the text just above where I was writing and it ended up transferring marker all over my hand…then I noticed that in flipping back and forth from note board to the mouse that I must have transferred the marker again because it ended up all over my palm…which then ended up on my sweater!!! Ugh. I posted in the comments section that the boards were messy and inconvenient. I also have terrible handwriting and with only the 2 boards, I felt compelled to write in tiny small bunches..which then got smeared…fail. I really hope they bring back paper and pencil because BEC and FAR are going to be a nightmare for me if they don't!

    Good Luck Everyone!!!! 🙂

I did not find the whiteboards or sharpies to be an issue at all. Time is better spent worrying about testing material!

No more mystery for me, I had my shot with the new markers today. No big deal although it was a bit frustrating when one pen dried up and I had to keep reminding myself to keep the cap on. I prefer the pencil but it's not a dealbreaker by any means.

I liked the pencils and paper better, but the markers/laminated paper were manageable. They definitely don't “wipe clean” easy; I was prepared because I had read Kricket's post the other day. And, my testing center was apparently informed of this issue, too. The lady who gave me my markers/laminates said “if the ink dries up, raise your hand/pen and I'll bring you another” . and . “if you fill up the laminate, raise your hand/laminate and I'll bring you another”. That was helpful to know I wouldn't have to run outside the room to get it.

I did accidentally leave the cap off one pen and had to switch to the other because it was dried out.
