I don’t know if all is bothering me today but talking o a friend, he said this stuff was “easy”. Of course he has other designation but not this one.
Why people talk about things without thinking?
I’m in the bad mood today…

I agree that some people find the material covered by the CPA exam easier than others who struggle with the concepts. On the othe hand, I agree that a lot of people are smug, pretentious jerks who belittle others by elevating their own successes. This CMA probably falls square in the middle somewhere. Don't let other people get to you or ruin your confidence. As a true southern woman, I would've given him a looked that killed, then smiled and said “God bless!”
December 11, 2013 at 5:02 am #494855AnonymousInactive@insiWins: my husband has a PhD in Engineering and is a professor at a Big10 university. I work at the same University so I am surrounded by them all the time as well. My husband has been my biggest fan and strongest supporter but he has looked at my study books and said, “I could never do this!” Respect! π

If you look at the pass rates alone the CPA is a more difficult certification. From what I've heard from lawyers that have their CPA as well the CPA exam is a more difficult exam. Think about it though, the bar would have to be an easier exam as it is a prerequisite for first year law school graduates before they start their first job as an attorney. And it's also a much more conceptual exam than the CPA as well with multiple choice and essay questions. My brother in law graduates from law school in May and plans on having his bar complete by July.

December 11, 2013 at 5:25 am #494915AnonymousInactiveThe following responses to that comment have actually come out of my mouth:
1. “Really, what is YOUR license number?”
2. “I must have missed you at Prometric. When did you take the exam?”
3. “Here's a 20 question quiz in Wiley. Go ahead. Take it. I dare you.” (My boss got less than 50% right and he got his license in 1969!)
4. “Easy is a relative term and like my relatives, it's crazy, mean and probably drunk.”
@CPAMommyof3 – Ditto!!!
@Candlemassisawesome – Don't assume the person that said they would punch a woman in the face is unethical. It may be a woman who posted that. I have on occasion wanted to punch someone, and I am extremely ethical, and I'm a woman! Mess with my kid, my husband, or my money and, yes, I WILL punch you in the throat.
@Baxter – Spoken like a true belle. Bless their hearts if they don't get.
@LatinoTurkCPA – I honestly and sincerely hope you do pass all four on the first attempt. I am not trying to be sarcastic here. I am as sincere as I know how to be, but it's almost impossible to convey that in a written post on the internet. I like to see people pass and I really don't like to see people fail. But when people say they are going to pass all four on the first attempt it really breaks my heart. God forbid something happens, like you get sick (Baxter and I both did), the fall out of the ivory tower you've put yourself in is a pretty hard fall. I really hate to see that. Good Luck to you.

December 11, 2013 at 5:25 am #494917barelystayingsaneMemberAgreed, Baxter! It definitely takes a certain mindset to understand accounting. I really struggled with my intro managerial accounting class and almost gave up accounting in college. I'm glad I didn't! Btw, way to rep the Big 10! I went to a Big 10 school. π
I also found all of my exams to be incredibly difficult, except for AUD, but I thought that material was super hard when I was learning it (I'm a tax guy). These exams are by no means easy!!!
