I don’t know if all is bothering me today but talking o a friend, he said this stuff was “easy”. Of course he has other designation but not this one.
Why people talk about things without thinking?
I’m in the bad mood today…

Easy mmhhh easy 1. First I will fart on your face then say flowers you (excuse my french). Easy is don't get me started. 2. Easy is in the eye/brain of CPA candidate (you study hard, pray you remember all the stuff you studied, hope your nerves don't get the best of you, pray that CPA Gods love you that day, that its your time to pass (lottery draw by invisible person in a dark room at the AICPA), Computer works and mouse works fine at prometric and no one including the people at prometric piss you off, because that will mess with your CHI and finally the AICPA asks you questions you studied not something they make up)
Wait I forgot the coughing people, whispering, fidgeting people, keyboard murderous (one of those) and germs etc. on top of everything else then you need 78% just in case they decide to take a point from everyone to be within acceptable passing rates. They can't afford to for the CPA exam to look to easy…
Then you can say its easy π Pass=Easy

I'm sure the CMA is a challenging exam but in no way comes close to the CPA exam in terms of required education, exam length, and content. Now if he was a chartered financial analyst where the pass rates are in the low – mid 40's and requires upwards of 900 – 1000 hours of study time for all three exams, he might be able to talk but even then I'd question his sanity. I had no idea of this exam, which is tailored for Wall Street, until a finance coworker mentioned they had contemplated this exam but did seem to really think the CFA was worth all the effort. Don't let your friend bother you though with his ignorant words. It just isn't worth time getting angry over a statement that absurd. I am almost certain 99.9% of people believe the CPA is one hellacious exam and not one to take lightly!

Most of the time they're outright lying or they're exaggerating the fact that this designation might be easIER than theirs. But if they truly think it's an “easy” designation then I just tell thme they're an outlier.

FAR-15(didnt study)December 11, 2013 at 3:55 am #494845LatinoTurkCPAMemberIn response to gatorbates, Yes I received a 76 and a 77, but I passed each taking the first time without a review course, just practicing multiple choice question while at the same time working full time and pursuing my MBA at the same time.
I'm on track to pass all of them first shot, which I believe only somewhere between 1/5 to 1/4 people are able to do. Out of that number, how many can say they did it while also working full time and pursuing their MBA? So I think that I do have some credibility from that standpoint for my opinion.
On top of that, I come from an uneducated family background, under represented minority group, and grew up in poverty. Yet I still feel like it's not ‘hard' (again depending on how you define easy and hard) as opposed to time consuming which is still a major accomplishment. I think that most anyone can go get college degree, grad degree, various certifications if they put in the time and don't believe in it being too ‘hard'.

December 11, 2013 at 4:35 am #494849AnonymousInactive@LatinoturkCPA, don't take this personal, I think we all agree the fact that other people, who has NO idea of this exam judging the level of difficulty. As per your progress and success, here you go! your opinion is valid because you are here, like everyone else, looking for support and expressing your opinion. At the end of the day we all need of each other, so, hopefully you will continue with the same success.
My overall opinion for this “friend” is the same as @CPAMommyof3 π

December 11, 2013 at 4:36 am #494851LatinoTurkCPAMemberIt seems like people have more respect for attorneys passing their bar exam rather than the cpa. Has anyone else felt that? From my research, the CPA exam is at least a bit harder than the bar exam. I've seen comments people putting it at same level as a real estate exam. Any theories on why that is?
Mine is the fact that lawyers are glamorized on TV and most people don't really know what a CPA is their tax guy.

On the othe hand, I agree that a lot of people are smug, pretentious jerks who belittle others by elevating their own successes. This CMA probably falls square in the middle somewhere. Don't let other people get to you or ruin your confidence. As a true southern woman, I would've given him a looked that killed, then smiled and said “God bless!”
