So I took FAR in Q2, and I have a good friends wedding 2 days after score release. Its out of state so its basically like a mini vacation. Should I wait until after the wedding to view my score, or bite the bullet and check it when its released? What would you do?

OMG…..I'm laughing right now! I don't know why people ask questions like this because they are so entirely subjective. Well, it depends on your personality type and what your objectives are as far as the CPA. If you know that you will be crushed if you fail, then wait. If you really don't care about how long it takes you to pass, then you can check it pretty much any time. Then again, someone else may say “Check it no matter what, if you fail, you need to know immediately so you can plan your next move” or whatever, yadda yadda yadda I took AUD in Q2. I guess the scores are due out on the 15th-18th but I'm not too concerned. If I happen to think about it, I'll have a look, but I'm thinking more about REG right now since it's the last of the 4 I need to study for and my passes/fails on previous exams are pretty much irrelevant. As is the case with so many aspects of these exams – it just depends on the person.

I hope you got a 75 or higher!

@crazyleon we're in the same boat, studying or REG, hopefully the last one.

@beantown23 REG is the last one I have to *prepare* for. I still don't know scores for my last 2 exams (AUD and BEC) but I will have to re-take FAR later this year. I seriously doubt I passed the other two so I'm still at Square 1. Thankfully, I don't need the CPA for job purposes. I just hope sometime I can actually get it and that it will open a few more doors.

once its available, check it and get it over with and enjoy. Either way, if you dont check during wedding fully knowing scores are out, youre just gonna think about it. I've been in your position and as the guy above said, its subjective, but it you pass, just imagine how LIT you will be during the party….if you don't then more time for you to plan out your next goal. Just remember, enjoy the party and always remember the process of getting to your end result makes it all worth while.

    BEC - 68,70,72,75 5/15
    AUD - 78(expired), 77 8/15
    REG - 29,58,65,77 1/16
FAR - 56,68,73 - retake October hopefully (last shot)

Been doing this since 2007 on and off...

I conducted a training while waiting to view my last score. I wanted to have singularity of mind and not be distracted/disappointed. And it was really fun to find that I passed – after everything was out of the way!

Everyone's different but don't be afraid to “compartmentalize” and give your dear friend full attention. Out of sight, out of mind.

OP – It really just depends on how you would react to a failing score. Me personally, when I found out I failed REG and BEC I cried and was very upset for about a week because I put so much time and effort into both. If you are the same way as me, then I would wait to look at your score so that you can enjoy yourself. If you are indifferent about your score or you are not easily upset, then by all means you should check you score!

If you could wait, all the power to you. I know personally I couldn't wait knowing the score is out there. I would just check it and then either you are in a really good mood or if not just quickly blow off steam and use the wedding as a way to forget about it and come back fresh after the wedding.

    AUD - 92
    BEC - 79
    REG - August
    FAR - TBD

Thanks for the opinions everyone. I know I'll be pretty upset if I see that I didn't pass, because I'm so close to being done and put in a lot of study time. I'll probably end up checking my score in a drunken stupor at like 4am after the wedding.

I feel you! I was in your shoes last November, except it was my wedding. And scores were released 1 day before. My fiancé was strongly against me checking results. But I checked it, because I could not wait. I found out that I failed, but you know, it did not influence on my mood and celebration next day. There are just things more important. And CPA, yeah it may just require additional effort to accomplish. I passed it in December. So check it and enjoy your time during the wedding! Good luck!
