What to expect after offer acceptance?

    I am in the post acceptance stage of the hiring process. I know they are doing several background type checks. They asked for information on references, but to this point have not called them.

    The position does not start until next fall. Will a firm typically notify you when the background check is complete? It has been 2 weeks since I submitted the paper work, how long should I give it before I should check in with HR?
