Most of the posters here already know my story and if you don’t, the link below will tell you.

I have seen many people here ready to give up, and I would like to know what is your Motivaton? Goals? You say you want so and so. The big question is what are you going to do about it? Changing study habits? Etc? What are you going to change for each failure?

As for me I have been studying like a MAD MAN daily, about 6-8 hours. I did 8 hours yesterday alone on just BEC doing mcqs and reading 3 chapters.

When I lost my job, I made myself a promise that I was going to study 6-8 hours a day. If I weren’t doing multiple choices, I’m either reading the outline chapters or listening to the audio versions of the outlines.

I have set my sights on certain goals, and I plan on plowing through whatever obstacles that is in front of me.

Watching people pass the exams, getting great jobs after passing them, and getting licensed is what’s driving me. I have so much free time, that i know I have to use it wisely and not just slack off.

I always say that the CPA is a long term investment and will pay off in the long run. All of us who are in this venture is in it for the long haul and are investing in their future.

So I say, examine your goals agains. For every failure, what are you planning to do about it to get you on the right path?

The only difference between a dream and a goal is a plan and hard work!

@Skynet – I love your post. The CPA journey is definitely more of a long term investment. It doesn't happen overnight, and I think that is the most difficult part of the exams. It takes some mega discipline to make it through. My motivation was usually reading about others that were having struggles too, and also thinking about why I wanted to begin the journey.

I'm now in the position where I passed the exams but have to get the actual work experience. It will take me over a year before I can apply for my license. I'm unsure and nervous about starting work (I start this week!) for the very first time.

This is also how I started out before sitting for exams. I made it through exams, and I can make it through this new job experience too. There will be ups and downs, but I'll keep pushing through just like I did to get through exams. Figure out what you want to do, set goals to get there, and go for it!
