I’m curious what happens once you find out you have passed your fourth section of the CPA exam. Does confetti fall from the sky? I know you have to take an ethics exam, but do you receive any congratulatory notice or “what to do next” procedure?

Depends on your state. Texas sends a letter congratulating you on passing the exam, along with a packet of forms to fill out and return. Some states don't even do that. My advice is to get on your state board's website and find out what they require.

I got a letter from NASBA saying congratulations and reminding me that I still have stuff to do but it varies from state to state.

It was pretty much on me to figure out what I needed to provide to apply for my license. I think I'm on a first name basis with the two women who answer the phone at the Ohio State Board at this point.

I heard of a girl from my state who thought her license was being processed because she was done. There is a separate application for your initial license. So def. look into it! Don't sit around waiting on a license you never applied for!

Give them a call. I've called my state board several times with really dumb questions and they're extremely nice and helpful.
