What do you have on your walls?

The wall cert post got me here…how do you decorate your office (home or otherwise)? I have mostly signed sports stuff and a few concert posters. One huge movie poster of Ben Affleck as “The Accountant”. I bought it before I saw the movie and knew how god awful it was. I like music and pro-sports far more than depreciation schedules.

My favorite thing in the office is a signed photo of an old pro-wrestler. Back when I was a kid, wrestlers all had to have other jobs…just being a wrestler wasn’t good enough. So you’d have the race car driver fighting the dentist. A trash man fighting a repo-man. One of the wrestlers was “IRS”, or Irwin R Shyster. The clearly anti-semitic stereotype wrestler was supposed to be a heel (bad guy). He’d come out, accuse the other wrestler of being a tax cheat, and then cheat his way to beating him up. Being me…he was my hero. I was always attracted more to villains, especially when they were so clearly supposed to me/my family.

At any rate…there’s something sort of fun about being a CPA with a signed photo of IRS right under your certificate.

“You didn't pay gift tax on that headress did you? You're goin' to jail, and your girlfriend's gonna stop breathin”…or something like that.

-Mike Rotunda (AKA Irwin R Shyster)

BTW, The Accountant was a fine movie because everyone knows the home office deduction can immediately take you from owing thousands to a financial windfall.

AND all companies keep 15 years of complete, hard-copy records on hand just in case they need to hire a super accountant to expose their own massive fraud all within a 24-48 hour window.

    ^^^ LMFAO. Exactly.

He's such a financial wiz that he can follow a flow chart WAY FASTER! God that movie was bad. I was so excited…OMG, THEY'RE GOING TO MAKE ACCOUNTANTS COOL!

    Nahhhh…

    I love my IRS photo.

I have a cubicle. The last few years I've felt like decorating. My hobby is counted cross stitch, so I have a few of those hanging up (some work related and some not, and usually a seasonal one in the mix). I have a calendar, a decorative framed tile, and my most recent anniversary certificate from work (we get them at 5 year intervals). I imagine I'll hang up my CPA certificate when I get it. I occasionally have something seasonal on my desk.

Hanging credentials on the wall is for people who feel the need to prove their worth. IMO

Hey, sometimes your boss makes you do it, @letsrun4it. I have my undergrad and MBA diplomas, and will soon have my CPA certificate joining them. I bought a painting for a large wall, and have another piece of art that some clients like and others say is dark or morbid (it has a skull, but I liked the meaning behind it…it cams from a book). I also have a painting of a skull that I did one night at one of those drink and paint things (I thought it was too dark for my office but my coworker convinced me it wasn’t). And then some sugar skulls and other decorations on my bookshelf.

That may be, but I don't need to justify it to someone I don't care about on the internet 🙂

(not to mention you're required to hang a current license in my state)

I found my bachelor's in my attic this weekend, in the original cardboard envelope it came in too.
Have not found my associates, but not sure it's really necessary to frame once you have a bachelors, but I figure what the hell.

@aaronmo that's awesome you've got a poster for “The Accountant.” I love that movie.

My wife does the decorating in our house. My only real contribution is a wall in our guest room/study, where I've hung my Bachelor's Degree (Accounting), CPA certificate and Eagle Scout certificate. It all looks pretty cool. I'm proud of how I put it up nice and centered. Ha!
