What changed after obtaining the CPA? - Page 3

What changed after you got the CPA that wouldn’t have happened had you not obtained the CPA? How did your life change?

Do colleagues/boss/peers treat you with more respect?

Did you get a promotion/raise/job that you wouldn’t had?

How long did it take to start feeling the benefits?

Did you expect more or less recognition?

Did it change your life for the better or was it not as beneficial as you thought it would be?

I don't have the official license yet, but even just in the past few weeks of passing all 4 parts, my life has changed in the fact that I no longer have to justify why I “haven't gotten my CPA yet.”

That alone is worth every minute, every cent, every tear to get through the exam to me. πŸ™‚

    BEC - 68, 76
    AUD - 90, 91
    FAR - 63, 83
    REG - 55, 79

    FINALLY DONE!

@ LoveEventing— I feel the same exact way! One of my motivations for going for the CPA again was that I was getting so annoyed at myself for having to answer the question “Oh, you are an accountant, are you a CPA?” with a “no”. I can't wait to be able to answer that with a “YES!”

    F- 7/13- 84
    R- 10/13- 79
    A- 11/13- 99
    B- 1/14- 86

    Licensed in PA- 3/20/2014

This exam ALMOST defeated me back in 2006-2008, but I came back and WON!

I'm hoping to earn more respect at work… I'm currently at Senior Accountant. Been here for 5 years. I know what I'm doing but since I'm not a CPA I feel like our COO has no faith in me. Maybe overexaggerating a little. But apparently after I'm licensed they'll give me everything I want right now. Which is more $$ and a better title… They are paying for it and I'm thankful, but at the same time I'm bitter because I think I deserve those things now. I WILL get a pay raise after I'm licensed if not here, then some where else.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I find that lights turn green, slow drivers get out of the way and there is always a close parking spot. Life is good!

@jydotcom: That's cool! Where did you go to, if you don't mind me asking? I am still undecided on what to do next…. stick with BOE or try luck in private industry….but with limited experience I doubt I can find a job which would pay $70K or more….Anything less than that doesn't make sense at this point….provided I have bills to pay! If I had a rich husband, that would be a different story πŸ˜‰
