What changed after obtaining the CPA?

    What changed after you got the CPA that wouldn’t have happened had you not obtained the CPA? How did your life change?

    Do colleagues/boss/peers treat you with more respect?

    Did you get a promotion/raise/job that you wouldn’t had?

    How long did it take to start feeling the benefits?

    Did you expect more or less recognition?

    Did it change your life for the better or was it not as beneficial as you thought it would be?

    I got a job that paid about 40% more than what I had been making. Still treated like crap but its a bit more bearable.

    My life hasn't changed a bit except a longer commute to said new job. As it turns out the kids still expect dinner every night and have to be forced to do their homework.

    Outside of work, nobody seems to care one way or the other. The people who respected me before still do, and the people who didn't never will.

    @mia,

    Well said “The people who respected me before still do, and the people who didn't never will.”

    The gratification will come from within. We can be proud of such a great accomplishment. Then life is still life and it goes on.

    When we accomplish something monumental, not as much actually changes as we would envision. Another example I lost 110 lbs (before the CPA, which I have gained entirely back). You'd think at 110 lbs lighter you'd feel like a new person? Not so much, everything is exactly the same except where you buy your clothes. At first there are some ohhhs and ahhhs but after a few weeks you're just not the rock star you thought you'd be.

    So the moral to the story is what tncincy said, has to come from within. Nobody will ever be as impressed as you should be with yourself!

    mla1169, when you lost 110lbs, didnt you notice guys were looking at you more? You didnt feel that you were able to do more things? You didn’t feel like going out more? Things in the XXX department were not better? I’m sorry, but loosing 110 lbs should have made a big difference in your life. You pretty dropped the equivalent of a 5’ 8’’ model.

    I may have gotten a few more glances but remember I'm not a “kid” and going out more is hardly as exciting when it is with the PTA, girl scout troop, cheer moms, and lacrosse team.

    xxx department, well….you've got me there!

    Ask anybody who has lost that substantial amount of weight, it doesn't change your life like you imagine it will.
