The score report is a meaningless document that should not be printed! This is was my 3rd REG attempt and I received a 73. How was I weaker on MCQs in 4/5 categories, comparable in 1/5, weaker overall in MCQs and SIMS.

Seems to me this test should be Pass/Fail bc the number seems arbitrary IMO. Or should I be more of a Pollyanna and think ” Gee golly I was so close, here ya go AICPA take $200 of my hard earned dollars and waste some more of my effn time with this BS sham of a process you call fair”

@CPA_help, I was weaker in 2 mcqs, comparable in 1, and stronger in the last, but somehow was stronger in overall MCQ? WTH??? lol

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

@cpa_help I could be wrong about this, but I dont think they “let” pass if you're weaker on SIMS. I have repeated FAR AUD 2x with final score being 76, Stronger 2/6 Comparable 3/6 weaker 1/6 overall MCQ weaker Overall SIM Comparable; FAR Comparable 3/5 weaker 2/5 Overall Comparable MCQs & SIMS; BEC no retakes Stronger 1/6 Comparable 3/6 weaker 2/6 Overall Comparable MCQs& SIMS.

My wife, the non CPA, thinks its there way of telling me I was right on the line. Basically I could feel the gust of wind in my face as the “Midnight Train to GA” was leaving the station.

@Wanna_B_TXCPA2014 that actually makes a lot of sense. I am going to work harder at mastering the SIMS. I am definitely slacking in this area.

@Wanna_B_TXCPA2014 Of course they won't let you pass of you did poorly on the sims. Why would they? It's 50% of the whole exam! Even if you smoked the MCQ with 100% correct, there ain't no way your gonna pass unless you do reasonable on the sims. That ‘loophole' where you can kill it on the MCQ for 60% and do poorly on sims when it was 40% and still barely pass has been closed IMO.

Unfortunately I've never benefited from that loophole you mention. Right now Im working on getting my mind right so that this nightmare ends in Q4. Who's coming with me?!!!!!

I too received a 73, I received stronger in Federal Taxation and Ethics but weaker in MCQ and SIMS, do you have any plans to try and take it Q3? I might try to sneak it in.

@Big Mike Depends what state your in. If your in a NASBA state, they send through email. Other states most likely on their state boards website.

The test is definitely geared for people fresh out of college because the study material is meant to be a “review”. But we also have to give those fresh out of college credit because it takes a lot of willpower to put in the time to complete not only their degree, but to also put in the time to get the exam over with rather than partying or focusing on “the wrong” things.

To pass this test, it's a combination of intelligence, persistence, and time management. If your life is not organized to put in the time to study, you won't pass. That means you have to have your life in order as far as habits and managing your activities.

Passing this test shows you can manage your personal life to an extent that you can get it done. Others might have things going on or their focus is elsewhere (toxic relationships, personal issues, parties, unecessary obligations, etc.) so that it takes time and brainpower away from fully preparing for the exam enough to pass.

PS still haven't gotten my score report, but it is useless for the most part especially since you can't review the questions you missed. It almost always comes down to the SIMs anyway, in my opinion.

@Big Mike I was about to ask y'all what was going on with this score report but I just looked at what I've been sent through email. It's called Uniform CPA Examination Score Notice. At the very bottom it says in bold – If you did not pass this examination section, performance information is provided on the back of this score notice. I guess every state is different.

    BEC - 79
    REG - 85
    AUD - 5/27/16
