This post is to break the stress and has no intrinsic value. A few years ago I woke up in morning and brushed my teeth, apparently I had some residual tooth paste on my finger and put my contacts in. The pain was so immense, I fell to my knees trying to get them out. Well today I came home and decided to have a small snack of wasabi nuts. I then took my contacts out, I prayed to Jesus to gauge my eyes out because I had some wasabi on the tip of my finger. I cant describe the feeling. It was like someone poured kerosene in my eyes. Bottom line is this studying can be dangerous. Be carefull out there! I really should be studying but cant take it anymore.

That's how I feel every time I open a review book.

Wasabi is evil! First time I had sushi, I had no idea what that green ball on the side was, so I popped it in my mouth!! Wow.

You need to wear glasses until you pass, for your own safety!

mla, that's hilarious. I had a similar experience. My sister wanted me to try her sushi, and under a piece of ginger was a giant hunk of wasabi. I'd never had it before. Still don't like it.

@givemesleep, I can totally feel that pain. One day I was trying to get something off the top shelf in my pantry and I picked up a container of Cajun seasoning that was in front of what I needed. Apparently it had been opened and not closed completely because as I was looking up at the shelf half of the container spilled directly into my eyes. I learned the hard way the best way to get rid of the burn is by flushing your eyes out with milk. Needless to say I ended up with a mild chemical burn on my eyes. and I never let anyone put seasoning on a top shelf anymore!

All of this is actually making me glad, for the first time in my life, that I have to wear glasses! I hate the idea of anything in my eyes so contacts are definitely out for me. But wasabi, toothpaste and Cajun seasoning!

@bnrhilton – Please tell me it wasn't the Zatarains! That stuff has a lot more cayenne than Toney's.

    Y'all need to be careful!

@kricket – it is some brand with a label called Cajun Teddy seafood seasoning. My mom gave it to me, not sure where she got it. I usually use Tony's or Zatarains but they are in my spice cabinet and not the pantry thank goodness or I may have gone blind, lol!

This thread made me laugh … awesome stuff (at GMS' expense, unfortunately).

I used to wear contacts and know this feeling all to well. I laughed when you mentioned falling to your knees trying to get it out. It really sucks when it burns so much that you can't even open your eye to take it out. Switched to glasses a few years ago and never looked back.

Lasik is a godsend. I used my FSA a few years back to get it. My husband was the driving force behind it, which if you knew him would be a surprise. That's a LOT of money to spend on something that most would see as a simple convenience. But my husband had seen me on my knees in pain with my lenses many times, and said, YES, GET IT. Maybe he was creeped out by me sticking my fingers in my eyes all the time.

I can now see the leaves on trees about a half mile away (or seems like it). I can see the writing on interstate signs long before he can. The only issue is a tiny bit of starburst pattern with lights at night, but it isn't unpleasant, and doesn't interfere with my sight at all. In fact, it's kinda pretty.

The only thing is, the Dr. told me that when I got into my 40s and 50s I would need reading glasses, however, at least one eye Dr. I know (Dr. Ming Wang, who by the way has an amazing story) is working on a laser correction trial for age-related presbyopia, so hopefully by the time I need those reading glasses, they'll have something else worked out. Of course, by then I may have to go to Panama or wherever our really good doctors end up moving to get it done.

The feeling was similar to trying to learn foreign currency transaction and hedging. If I learn nothing from this process at least I know now that there is actual term called a Swaption. I can't make this stuff up. What have we gotten ourselves into? I am really really done. I cant study anymore. It's a waste at this point. I checked my stats on Wiley, in total for all four parts I did 11,000 mcqs and sims and spent approx 800-1000 hours studying (estimate) and about $6K in cash, not including alcohol. I wish tomorrow was 8/31 so I could get this over with already. We are all super human. Good luck my friends, see you in the alumni lounge!
