Hey everyone,

I used Becker the first time I took FAR and to say the least, I didn’t do to well. I want to order Ninja FAR but I have been getting all this news that the exam is going to change in 2016 or 2017 regarding audio and video. Can you explain this? Should I wait till it changes? I can wait, the CPA exams are my number 1 priority.

The exam is shifting to more SIMs in 2017. I'm not entirely sure about the breakdown. They are also making REG and BEC 4 hour tests instead of 3 hour tests. I would just try to get them all completed as soon as you can.

A lot of people are freaking out about the changes, but I don't know that it really matters anyway. All signs point to the exam is graded on some sort of curved scale, so if everyone bombs it, the curve will just be more than usual. I wouldn't worry about the changes too much at this point.

Don't wait. Yes, there are some changes on the format of the exam. But at the end you will still be studying the same kind of materials and practicing the same kind of MCQs no matter in 2016 or 2017. There is no point to push the exam to 2017. And not to mention there is plenty of time for you to pass all section before 2017 =) Enjoy and Have fun

Don't wait. Take advantage of the fact that BEC and REG are currently 3 hours each. Plus, you never know what life can throw at you in the future. Everyone has told me to pass the exam as soon as you can (assuming no serious financial hardships).

Don't wait. The only changes I'm aware of are supposed to occur July 2017. That leaves plenty of time to knock them out before the changes. I also agree with the other posters – I don't think the changes are worth sweating about at this point.

To echo the above sentiments, there's never a need to wait. When I was preparing to take my first exam, a couple of years ago, there was all talk of big changes coming through. If I had waited I would have wasted a lot of time because AICPA will always try to have a “big change” every now and then.

As far as I remember, they also give ample time before making major changes. So if they announce a change now, it'll take place, at times, 6 months into the future.
