    Hi Everyone,

I need some urgent advices in order to make a decision. I used Yaeger course for a months and I am struggling with the FAR Wiley text book and could not finish the first Module within a month. Yaeger told me to skip some of the readings, but I would like to read the whole text as I was afraid that skipping might create a lot of gaps later on.

Used Becker years before, passed 3 parts. Nevertherless, my brain only retain information well when I really understand material. So I am a little hesitate to switch, but don’t see I have a lot of choice here.

Since my last accounting class is 10 years ago, i am currently go over an accounting book after i hit a wall with Wiley. So far, so good. Two becker live classes starts this week, I am thinking I might switch to Becker but I really enjoy my review with my accounting book. Ideally I would like to take Becker after finishing my accounting book. However, If I miss classes offered by becker this week, I won’t be able to take it until April.

Also If i take becker live class, I have to stick with Becker’s schedule. Since My accounting classes is so long ago, I don’t think I can move so fast as Becker’s live schedule. ( Would prefer the live class than self study)

    Any advices would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

First of all, I would like to let you know that you are not the only one having problem with the first module in Wiley's book!

As a recent graduate, I have the same problem. First module's material is just overloaded!

I understand that you want to learn everything in first module first before moving on, but I would like to let you know that if you read module 2-4 first, you will find everything making more sense. In Wiley FAR, the first 5 modules are like Accounting 101, but module 2-4 kind of back of module 1. I would encourage you read module 2-4 first before reading module 1.

Skipping module 1 will not get you a big gap. Since you passed the other 3 section, I would assume you already know enough basic accounting to get you a good understanding on FAR. I would recommend you do the MCQ in the back of the module, and if you get 3-5 consecutive questions wrong in a row, go back to that particular section and read about it.

I didn't use Becker, so I can't comment about Becker.

    yellowsugar,

Thanks. first of all, it is nice to know that I am not the only one who was struggling with Module 9. Second of all, thanks for the specific tips on the order of reading it.

yes, I still have basic accounting knowledge. However, I don't think those general idea would be enough for me to try questions at the back first because I forgot a lot of details. The good news is that I can easily relearn them quickly.

What was your pace when you were using it? ( ie how many days to cover a module). Was wiley the only thing you used?
