I know the requirements vary by state, but I am in WI and recently passed the last part of the exam (WOO!!). I’ve had a lot of varied work experience since graduating from undergrad (where my major was not accounting), none of which was a full-time year of public accounting that is required for the license. I’ve had part-time public accounting experience and some industry experience, but some of it was before I completed my grad degree in accounting. SO, my case is not clear cut as to when I have met the requirement …
I’m currently working in public accounting and could just wait longer in my current job to apply, but if I can qualify now, I’d obviously just like to get licensed. My question is … is there a disadvantage to applying with my current work history and having the board just say I need more experience (and then providing that additional info to them upon getting it)? Or am I going to have to pay more than once, etc.? I know there is the cost to apply initially, but I can’t find anywhere whether submitting additional experience after getting rejected will cost more. Thanks for the input!
