So what do you do when you want to quit? I just doesn’t seem worth it. I am so discouraged. I flat out don’t test well.
Also, it seems like everyone else is passing without issues. I’m happy for friends who pass but also feel like an idiot. There are some people I have zero respect for who have managed to pass.
I did 100 mcqs today and only a feel more sh#tty. I’m sorry to complain, but but I figure you guys will understand.

Okay…I just had a complete freakout moment. Throwing pens, crumpling notes…the whole 9 yards. I then had flashback to reading this thread this morning. I am not totally prepared for the exam (part 1 CIA) tomorrow but I still have time. It is not until the afternoon so I can stay up late and study or wake up early and study or both.
Thanks for posting that Jeff.
Just popped some excedrin (the freakout gave me a headache) time to get back to it and hope for a miracle.

August 18, 2013 at 7:53 pm #430831AnonymousInactive@BobRossFan71 Thanks for the concern. I think stress is draining me. My diet is pretty healthy. I think its mainly that I have not been getting the exercise I should have for the last few years. I've gained 15-20 lbs on this CPA expedition. Also, I go to a physical therapist to help with SI joint dysfunction. It's not a serious condition but basically means I'm in pain most of the time, especially when I'm sitting. (which is all the time between work & study) Pain can be tiring, advil & ice are my friends.
@quittingcpa2013 I think four 74's would have put me over the edge 😉
August 18, 2013 at 11:29 pm #430832Jennifer241Member@bluegirl I took BEC a couple of days after you and I also got a 70. It sucks! I have more failures than you, I have been taking a test every single window since 2009, I don't have them listed because I didn't keep track and snail mail state doesn't either.
I plan to retake BEC the first week of October, you want to study with me? We can be study buddies! We can keep each other in check and keep each other motivated. What do ya say? BEC in October?

August 19, 2013 at 12:13 am #430833AnonymousInactiveHey @Bluegirl I am sorry about your pain. I don't have any issues with pain (thank God!) but my husband has chronic pains on his back, neck, shoulders through his arms for so many years. So even if I am not in pain, hearing people in pain affects me too. I hope your pain goes away soon too!
Yes sitting for long hours everyday could be really wearisome. I've got the oldest but most comfortable computer chair in our house. It has long, tall back and headrest that supports my head so well and it also has great arm support. Its fabric is great and kind to my skin too. I never have anything to complain about this chair. The only complaint I've had is that it WAS my husband's chair. This was his chair when he was still single which I stole. LOL. What I really like about my chair (now), if I lean hard on it when I get really tired, I could fall to sleep in a snap.
But still, sitting for a long day could make my behind get stiffed and I could feel so beat up. Changing position after many hours is really helpful.
My husband suggested that I should move our wide recliner that we just bought from our living area to my study room. At first, I didn't like the idea because I picked that recliner out from Ashley Furniture when we renovated our living area last year. The recliner could sit two people and looks very nice for our visitors to see. As a matter of fact, we already got many compliments from my in-laws and friends.
Well, my husband made a good point. He's more concerned with my well-being than caring much of how our hall would look.
So now after sitting for long hours and studying on my desk top computer, I would change position by stretching out on the recliner with my iPad, or maybe reciting/reading my flashcards or listening to Ninja audio until I fall to sleep on this recliner-now-my bed.
August 19, 2013 at 12:20 am #430834AnonymousInactive@Jennifer241 Definitely:) Being accountable to someone else besides just myself will be helpful. I plan to dig in and start studying right after labor day. 4th Qtr will be my last chance for both BEC & FAR before REG expires 1/2/14.
Best of luck with REG!

August 19, 2013 at 11:18 am #430836nolifecpaParticipantI didn't know you have to test well to be a CPA, how come nobody told me this?
when you look at others just remember that everyone is different and we all excel in different areas. i'm sure you're a beast in other things, you just chose to compare yourself with others on the CPA exam
strugglers will struggle but we never give up. i've been on this journey for 7 years and i'll go 7 more if that's what it takes

August 19, 2013 at 2:26 pm #430837AnonymousInactive@bluegirl We're all hope you won't need this…but with it expiring 1/2, you *can* sit for an exam on 1/2 and still have it count. 🙂 So, here's hoping you pass this quarter, but if not, you've still got one more chance!
August 19, 2013 at 3:06 pm #430838AnonymousInactiveThanks everyone for propping me up a bit. It's been getting rough mentally, I'm doing my best to realign my brain. I even got up earlier today for some prework study time.
@Lilla Its nice to a have a “one day only” reprieve backup, but jeez how depressing if I ‘had' to use it, the pressure of it all
@Jennifer241 I sent a friend request yesterday on fb. Hope REG your studies are going well
August 19, 2013 at 3:14 pm #430839AnonymousInactiveTo be honest for a very very very long time I pondered to myself the point of obtaining this license. I passed REG on first try last year. Watched the Becker lectures once and did the multichoice questions and sims questions once, didn't really put in any more effort than that. But keep in mind I also work in tax, so this material isn't new to me and it's pretty easy for me to look at. Then I took AUD, and BEC, neither one of them did I put in forth any effort to studying. I did terrible, and I tell myself I just want to go in and see what the questions is like. For a while there I would study then not study for a couple days. This went on for months. I keep moving my exam date for AUD. I hated studying for AUD. I watched the lectures and I did the questions, and I was not doing well at all on the questions . On evidence part I am bombing like no other (I was getting atleast 60 questions wrong out of 100 on first try) . It's been at least 5 to 6 years since I touched anything with debits and credits. It was tough for me back then and after a certain period of time of not working with it you definitely forget it. And relearning this whole thing is ridonculous and tedious.
It is my family's expectation that I become a CPA. And for a long time I keep thinking that I am doing this for them and I get discouraged because it's not something that I want for myself. After a long time looking deep in to myself I realized this is for me, not for anyone else, and I don't care what anyone else thinks. Fact of the matter is I want to have a nice comfortable life working internationally, and a CPA license will get me closer to that goal. Through the support of my wife I finally was able to get myself motivated and study. The fact is you have to want this, if in your mind you don't want it, you don't think you can pass it, you will hold yourself back and constantly give yourself excuses to not put forth the effort.
This is a tough exam, and my AUD exam is tuesday. I'm not running from it. I've been studying and making sure I know the material. I don't know everything, In fact I still struggle on evidence, but overall I been getting a 60 on it and around 80s for the other parts. If I make it, great, if not, then I will study again and do it again, not a big deal. I am not going to stress myself out over it, what's the point? All I can do is make sure I put forth the effort to studying. Do I care what grade I get? No as long as it's a 75! Am I going to remember everything? Definitely not!
In the end all I care about is just enough knowledge to get me that 75 and the end result is I will be a CPA also.

August 19, 2013 at 3:38 pm #430841AnonymousInactive@CPAorNOT Thanks for sharing your journey. Only CPA candidates seem to understand what a hellish struggle this exam can be. Best of luck for AUD, *fingerscrossed* for you.
