In the US the total # of stimulant prescriptions dispensed increased from 10M in 1993, to 20M in 2000, and to 58M in 2014. ADHD medication sales increased from 1.85B in 2002 to 4B in 2007, and to 12.9B in 2014.
Read articles about how a 12year old who loved playing with her dog for hours, but couldn’t focus on homework was deemed to have a mental disability & given ADHD drugs as a result. It’s really a sad country we live in, so much pressure to excel. & now over 50% of the people prescribed these drugs are adults.
For those that work in public firms (corporate america) probably half the people around you are on adderal. Yes people are motivated, but not motivated enough to work for 10 hours straight, 5 days a week, naturally.
