Hi guys! When accounting masters program personal statements ask you to talk about what your short-term( 3-5) and long-term (7-10 yrs) goals are:

for short term do they want to know that you want to finish your masters, get the CPA done, and get a job or is there a trick somewhere in there and they want to know something else? after taking the CPA exams a few times I feel like there is catch everywhere. am i just over thinking it? because with medicine, engineering, and politics of course you can say you want to save the world and cure diseases, and get rid of corruption, but I don’t know how I am suppose to say something similar about accounting?!?! Thanks a lot!

When I did my personal statement of goals I said for short term completing the program, passing the CPA exam, and getting a full-time job with one of the big 4. Long term I said climbing the big 4 ladder by becoming a manager then a partner or becoming an officer at a different corporation. I fluffed it up a bit but that's the gist of it. I personally want to work/travel internationally so I also indicated that in the personal statement. Basically just write the path you see yourself on for the next 10 years.
